Do you have faith in Dwayne Jarrett's ability to step up next season?

It's not the only game he's played with Matt Moore at QB. 3 games in 07 he did diddly. Rosario, Robinson, and Carter all got touches I don't see why he couldn't have had at least had 1 catch. He played 2 games in 09 with all of his production coming from the saints game.

I was referring to this past season, not his entire career. As much as people love hating him, he's improved his play from his rookie year, (especially in the area of run-blocking) where he really was horrible, regardless of who was at QB. That's why I'm focusing on the now.

Yeah, he f**ked up in the New England game. And he also didn't do anything. But as I said before, he was only in for about 10 plays the entire game, almost all of them at the very end.

It's not a coincidence that he played well during the saints game, anybody is going to play better when they go against backups.

Is it a coincidence that he played well in his first game of the 2009 season where he was working with a competent quarterback and was allowed to take part in more than ten plays? (even if it wasn't by choice of the coaching staff.)

Again, he outperformed Moose against those same backups with half the playing time.

I'm not saying this means that he'll score 20 touchdowns next year, but at the same time, I think it's dumb that people look for reasons to discount his performance there.

Hell, Williams had the best game of his career (up until that point) against the Buccaneers' backups in 2007. Basically what I'm saying is; who gives a poo? The kid performed.

It's not harsh to completley write him off. Last year a ton of people were saying that he wasn't a bust because WR's need 3 years to develop in the NFL. Now that we're past 3 years he's not a bust because:

He's too young to be a bust.

OR

there's a very small chance he couldn't be a bust so we shouldn't write him off just yet. It's very likely he is but it's too hasty to write him off.

OR

I'm not one of those "three year" people or whatever. I'm one of those "let's give him a chance and see what he can do before deciding he sucks based on about 1/3rd of a season's worth of snaps that Steve Smith or Muhsin Muhammad would have gotten." guys.

Jake never threw to him. Even though plenty of other recievers in his situation have produced at least marginally. Not to mention the billions of other rookie WR's acheiving success. It's the team's fault he isn't succeeding.

Fixed, and I'm glad you agree on that last part.

What's funny is that some people here think they know more than the COACH of the team (who decides who's active or not); and a guy who will only throw to guys he TRUSTS (trust is won in practice, in person, in the film room, and on the field) in Jake. Keep in mind Smitty couldn't even play in the Saints game. Had he not have broken his arm, Jarrett may not have even seen the field.

Sadly, right now, he's our #2 and we have to hope some miracle happens in training camp and he finally learns that this isn't USC.

Jarret can't do ANYTHING right as a WR. He can't get open, he can't run routes, and having no fingers would be an upgrade to what he calls "hands" at this point.

Yet another WR bust from USC.

he has great hands I don't know where you got that idea.

Sometimes he misses a catch just out of a lack of effort, but if the ball touches his hands it's stuck there.

Cracka brings up a good point I meant to address earlier.

Not only should we give him a shot in order to make sure, if we do let him walk, we're relatively confident that he won't turn into a beast for a team which can actually DEVELOP a receiver, but in addition, he'll have a new receivers coach this offseason.

I love Richard Williamson, but I believe his ability to be an effective mentor for young receivers has been declining for the last few years. Smitty was the last guy he was really able to coach up that we've drafted.

His best game was against Saints backups and he barely even got his TD.

He could fail again this season, and you'd be first in line to tell the FO to sign him to one more year because you know his 5th year is THE year.

Let it go. It's okay to admit a Panther sucks.

Actually no you're wrong I wouldn't have a problem letting him go after he gets a chance with a legitimate NFL QB. We all used to curse Jake on game day and we were the first ones to blame Jake when Steve Smith didn't have a good game. Don't you think just maybe Jake would have that same effect on other WR's. By all means if Matt Moore plays like we expect him to and Dwayne doesn't perform give up on it, but the guy has all the tools to be a great weapon for us next year and I have faith he will become it.

I don't know whether is was Jake's inability to look Jarretts way or Moore having more faith in Jarrett. I do think that Jarrett and Moore have better chemistry than he and Jake.

I give him a short leash but you got to allow him and Moore to play together and see if they have a connection.

They both were on the number 2 offense in practice theres no coincidence there.
