That’s a steal my man!  You do that trade everyday and on Sunday. The goal is to win now!

Really don’t want to give up one of our only defensive prospects.

Rather give a forward. I’d have been fine giving Ponomarev because FUS is going to chase him down as soon as next year and maybe Koivunen too.

No extension in the deal. No matter what BY9 says.

Cool? Still happy with it either way, it'd ridiculous to keep hourding prospects instead of going all out, the Canes have a stocked pool they can afford to trade some.... I mean crap Vegas/TB sold off all their picks and prospects and guess what they have cups to show for it!

I can see where you're coming from, but what is the point of drafting so well if you're not gonna use that to win a cup. We can draft/develop another Morrow. 40 goal scorers are not as easy when you pick as high as we normally do.

Personal opinion but I think those teams have more high end talent than us and I think that’s what got them over the hump. Their deadline acquisitions provided depth.

For us, I think we have a lot of depth but not high end talent. If Guentzel doesn’t re-sign or we don’t win the Cup then we essentially gave away a top four defensemen for nothing. I’d be fine giving up a prospect with an extension, without is a big gamble.

Ultimately, I think the prospect hoarding comes down to us hoping that one or two of these guys becomes a superstar. I’m holding out hope for Nikishin and Nadeau.

I agree. I just think there are other guys I’d prefer to ship out.

Morrow is a PPG high offensive ceiling defenseman.

Nikishin IMO will be a superstar by year two under no circumstances would I trade him! Keep in mind Morrow isn't even a signed prospect....

Also I wouldn't call Vegas getting Jack Eichel not getting a superstar l.

    • What's wrong with Damien Lewis? He played pretty well last year.
    • Official NFL Cuts Tracker Deadline for roster cuts is Tuesday, August 26th. At this moment (Friday, August 22nd) the only interesting names I see are... K Caden Davis (BUF) RB Ameer Abdullah (SF) WR Equanimeous St. Brown (SF) WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (NO) LB Khaleke Hudson (TEN) Abdullah, St. Brown, Peoples-Jones I don't exactly think we should cut anybody for but it was just interesting seeing those names. Khaleke Hudson was on the Panthers' practice squad last year I believe and might have even gotten called up? And of course, Caden Davis just because of the question mark at kicker this season for the team.
    • I'll say 6/10. I don't know that we learned a whole lot about this team during preseason that we didn't already know. We didn't play the starters enough to really get a feel for what to expect. We had one good drive against the Browns, one 3-and-out and two 3-and-outs against the Texans. That's an extremely small sample size across 3 games regardless of performance. My camp/preseason takeaways: Jalen Coker might be the best WR on this team and is certainly no worse than #2. Nic Scourton is going to be a good player for us. Possibly very good. Bobby Brown was our best free agent addition. Jack Plummer isn't an NFL QB. Not even a practice squad guy. Having anyone other than Canales and Evero call plays was a really stupid and pointless idea. Our depth is largely non-existent, especially on defense. The three areas we actually DO have depth are on the OL, in the WR corp. and at RB. I can't fathom why Dan Morgan didn't do more to upgrade ILB during the offseason. We better hope Lathan Ransom steps up at FS because if he doesn't we have a massive hole. For all the hype surrounding Sanders/Evans, Tommy Tremble is still the best TE on the roster. I'm only slightly less enthusiastic going into the regular season than I was a month ago. I think our starters on offense are solid and we should be pretty good there unless Bryce totally regresses. On defense, we're probably bottom 3rd in the league if 100% healthy and significantly worse than that if injuries become an issue. We badly need at least two of our rookies to become high-level players early (ideally one of the pass rushers + Ransom) and at least 2 of our free agent additions (ideally Moehrig + Bobby Brown) to be significant upgrades over last year. Call me pessimistically optimistic 😆
