"Panthers sticking to Philosophy"

Strong Arm

Kool Aid drinker for sure. Nobody is disagreeing with the notion the Panthers have generally not made big waves in the FA market. I guess that nugget of info was for the fair-weather fans and outsiders. What's news is we have not seen a slashing of veterans--still productive mind you, on such a scale on this team. So to say, in essence, there was nothing out of the ordinary going on when all those vets were let go is completely FALSE.

Agreed.

On the topic of quarterback...

But Hurney admits there are questions with that young quarterback and at certain spots on defense. Let's start with the quarterback. I specifically asked Hurney if the Panthers really, truly, right hand in the air, are planning on going to training camp with Matt Moore as their starting quarterback.

Even though Hurney admitted the Panthers may do some things to solidify the position in what remains of free agency and the draft, the answer was a strong yes.

"We've seen enough to know he's taken care of the opportunities he's had," Hurney said. "Joe Gibbs always said at the quarterback position, when the lights go on, guys only get a few chances. When a guy gets that chance, he has to step up and take advantage of the opportunities. Matt Moore has done that in the opportunities he's had. That's the gauge for quarterbacks. They have to take advantage of the limited opportunities they have.''

This is Moore's opportunity. It's one the Panthers felt they had no choice but to give him, even if it meant handing Delhomme nearly $13 million to walk out the door.

"I have two sons, and if they grow up to be like Jake Delhomme, I'll be very, very happy," Hurney said. "We just got to a point, with Matt coming on at the end of last season, that it was the right decision to make to go with Matt as the No. 1. He's done everything. He's performed when he's had the chance and he's shown the ability to win football games."

"Solidify" equates to a veteran backup. Hopefully that's McCown (he easily makes the most sense) but I think they'll wait to see who, if anyone, gets cut between the draft and training camp before making a final decision.

    • Don't have to be miss cleo. His weakness are length, athleticism, creating his own shot, defense, finishing at the rim,  Strengths - shooting and IQ.   Likely won't work as non athletic shooters don't typically work.

    • I live in Indiana and took a trip that weekend to watch my two friend's teams play (Chiefs and Vikings) IN Minnesota when they were playing at a college field, I think TCF? Anyways, our plan was to watch the game (noon game) then do some shopping at the Mall of America, I wasn't planning on watching the Panthers play Seattle since I was out sight seeing and walking around after the noon game had ended. By the time we were walking back into the Mall the Panthers were down by 2 scores in the 4th or going into the 4th and we were all thirsty from walking around for 2.5 hours after the Vikings game so we decided to postpone shopping until after we ate. We found this nice little sports bar inside the mall that had the game on. Man, I'm so glad we skipped shopping because that was probably the most excited I've been in some time for a win. Beating Seattle in 2015 felt like the "monkey off the back" sort of feeling and I knew we had finally arrived as a team. The entire bar erupted when Cam hit Olsen for that walk off TD. Literally one of the greatest moments of my life. My friend wasn't so happy though lol, by the time the Panthers game ended ALL of the stores inside the mall had closed and he wasn't able to get any souvenirs. It was his first time watching a Vikings game live and making a trip like that so he was legit upset lol. I on the other hand couldn't have been happier.
