Tulsky named GM of the Canes

As expected and glad to hear it's official. I think he's been more responsible for our sustained success the last 6 years than Waddell was. Both have been important, don't get me wrong. But I'd rather let Don walk like we did than have Tulsky take a GM job elsewhere, which he absolutely would've gotten eventually (has already had several interviews and league wide interest). I think Justin Williams could backfill some of the Waddell duties on the GM side. Team President will probably be a new hire, or other promotion from within -- Waddell was definitely good at that stuff but all that stuff doesn't directly impact the on ice product.

Slavin expected to extend 8 years $6.5M per year as soon as he’s eligible on July 1. Absolutely ridiculous steal and great early work from Tulsky. Slavin is tied for our most important player with Aho and I’d honestly give him $10M per year if that’s what it took to keep him. He’s easily worth it.

A Ph.D. in chemistry from Cal Berkeley, a 2-year postdoctoral study at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington and holds 27 US patents.  12 years in the tech industry managing research teams for nanotechnology in areas such as DNA sequencing and solar energy.

Yep.... hockey guy. He brings some sand paper to the front office.

    • Well, they're both in the same league (if you will). During preseason, Fitz went 3/3 & Sauls went 5/6, but of course Sauls was 4/4 last night (including one 50+). Both were Lou Groza Award finalists. I believe Fitz made two 55+ yarders last season, while Sauls led the nation with three. Fitz was 13/13 (💯) while Sauls was 21/24 (87.5). Fitz was a 3rd-Team AP All-American, while Sauls was a PFF All-American.  Career-wise, Fitz was 58/74 (78.4), while Sauls was 52/64 (81.3). I wish that I could see the attempts and knew the depth of yardage. I wish that we could compare practice kicks during their training camps, but we can't. Maybe someone with a PFF/CFF account can give that Basically it's just a matter of belief I guess. Seeing dude knock down four FGs and go perfect during a pressure-filled game for him is damned impressive if you ask me. I don't believe that Fitzgerald could do that.  That being said, I'd have to know more. I will say that it may be worth mentioning that we seem to like PFF this year and Sauls being a PFF All-American may be notable. Now that being said, the Panthers may not be even considering Sauls.
    • Ive said it 1000x times on here.  Our 2025 season will be dictated by the first 4 games.  poo the bed there and lose all confidence and momentum, we win 5 games maybe.  Go 2-2, 3-1 we got a look at 7/8 wins
    • I basically made almost the exact predictions on a phone call with a buddy about 3 weeks ago. I really do expect Evero gone before the seasons end, Young to just not able to get over the hump enough and DC to head into next season on a VERY hot seat.
