If the Panthers are looking a number two reciever behind Steve Smith. Why are they not going after Brandon Marshal ? They have been looking a number 2 for about what 5 years now. WTF. This Franchise just will not pay the big money. " we will see how long Stewart and Williams stays.

For starters, Marshall requires a first rounder, something the Panthers currently do not have. They could get it but they won't. Then Marshall will require a huge contract.

Why do we have to go after every WR that is on the trade market? I just don't get that. I know we need a WR but chill guys, in time we will.

Marshall will require a big contract. #1 receivers will do that. Since we are in need of a #1 receiver, I don't follow the logic on how we will get around this besides paying for mediocre talent and great character...

plus, he's killed a few people...

Bottem line is that it takes quite a while to develop a great reciever, even Steve Smith. There is a top 5 reciever available in Marshall and he is worth a 1st round pick. At least a 2nd and 3rd. Why waist 2 years developing a receiver that may or may not prodice(In Carolina's case never produces) when you can have one right now?

Two reasons that have been stated in numerous similar threads:

1) Requires 1st round pick, which the team doesn't have and might not feel is warranted.

2) Might not mesh well with Steve Smith.

broncos have said that they don't want anything less than a top 20 pick in this years draft. not sure we can even trade up to that without giving up quite a few picks.

dont get me wrong, I'd love to have Marshall play for the Panthers. BUT, character issues, money(which paying him huge money right before the possible lockout would and will be a very dumb idea), and as a rookie develops this season, we can sign a FA WR next year AND Jarrett is a FA. there are many good young recievers that are already developed enough to be a #2/#1 WR in the future in FA next year...like James Jones who in my opinion is going to be a great WR.

EDIT: another thing, Sidney Rice is a FA next year. I believe he will sign a long term contract with the Vikings, which would put Bernard Berrian on the trade block. Berrian could possibly be had for a 4th round pick.

I still think Marshall will be a Seahawk. The Holmes deal to the Jets will help that along as well. Denver will fold between tonight and next Thursday and there's no way they get a first for him
