Week 8: Draft Status Update

Exactly.  We need to stay put and take a non-QB or trade back and do the same thing if wed can find a trading partner.  Edge is a HUGE need.  We need to find our next Peppers in this draft.

I'm not against drafting a QB depending on who we can get in FA.  I kind of like Ward as of now, but a lot can change...  Edge is a huge need, I'm just not sure there is one worth the top pick.  If we trade down it really opens up our options.

People are getting it now.  I am seeing this posted more and more. Obviously, I am in complete agreement.

I get it, I really do and not totally opposed to it, but by doing this you are basically ensuring at least 2 more shitty seasons at the very least.  I think we have to pick a guy this year even if its a project to have someone that is potentially developing.  Rolling with a vet next year feels like another top 5 pick.

We will be set up just to fail just like when we took Gerber two drafts ago and didn't have the supporting cast around him.  I mean Tepper loves repeating the same mistakes, so I don't see why he would stop now.  This team is so bad that we will have a top 5 or top 10 pick in '26 anyway--vet or rookie QB next year, it doesn't matter.  My contention is build the team and get the rookie QB in a seemingly much deeper QB in '26.  Hopefully by then we have more pieces on the team to help the rookie.  If we go the veteran route and the dude is at lest decent, we don't have to rush the rookie into the lineup right away in '26.

I think the next qb we draft has to sit regardless.  I dont think there is any negative drafting a kid and making him sit 8-10 games whatever.  I know people can point to cam, Daniels this season or whoever, but there is a laundry list of guys thrown to the wolves that have damn near ruined them professionally

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
