IMOP-Roethlisberger is going to be traded.

I have a feeling, unless The Golden Calf of Bristol isn't a Jaguar by the end of next weekend, "BIG" Ben...will be a Jaguar. I think it could be something like this...

David Garrard and a 2nd round draft pick in 2011 for Ben Roethlisberger. I think he will likely get a 4 game suspension, so that would have the Jaguars probably starting Luke McCown unless they sign a veteran QB like Bulger, who I think we should sign to backup Moore.

You don't suspend him for accusations. You suspend him for the negative attention he brought to the NFL if you are Goodell and the negative attention he brought to the Steelers if you are the Rooneys.

Ben did go out to these nightclubs full of underage kids, with a posse, bought drinks for them, and had sex in a public establishment......those are facts.....facts he admits to. Also, none of that appears to be a one time occurance.........even he didn't rape a girl.....what BUSINESS wants that kind of guy to be face or a face of the NFL or team. If a guy from my company went out and acted like that....and it became public knowledge it would hurt out small business.....and he would have to be dealt with.

Negative attention brought on by accusations, have you seen the previous precedent set by the league for actually handing out suspensions its been multiple arrests, not he said she said BS

Underage kids at a nightclub really whats wrong with that sentence, have you ever been to a nightclub that serves drinks, don't u assume that the people in that establishment have the right to be there, or if a girl asks you for a drink do u ask for her ID first, I'm sorry but thats on the nightclub not on Roethlisberger.

And you brought up sex in a public place hardly a serious offense even by NFL standards, remember the sex boat scandal those players were actually charged and convicted of misdemeanors and only were fined a game check.

I like said I can see maybe the team taking action because it acts as its own entity, but not the league UNLESS Goodell is looking to set a new precident and make an example out of Ben.

Florio thinks he'll get eight games or more, and it could be a combo of suspensions by the team and the league.

um... i didn't read through all the other posts, so i don't know if anyone corrected you on this... but one of the Rooney's (owners of the steelers organization) said in a press conference that whatever punishment the NFL gives Ben, that's what the steelers will settle on. so if the NFL suspends him for 4-8 games, then it'll be just that, nothing else.

Negative attention b/c Ben is a dumbass. You don't hear about Tom Brady being accused of raping chicks in nightclubs....b/c HE doesn't take chicks into bathrooms. Ben isn't a total victim if innocent of all accusations.....he put himself in horrible scenarios to make everyone he represents look bad.

maybe if you work construction job and aren't the face of the organization....getting busted banging a chick in the McDonalds bathroom is a funny story. No one cares. Doesn't effect business. If you are owner or the face of a organization....getting busted being an complete dumbass....normally does have a negative impact on business.

Hey I agree Ben loves the girls even if they dont love him back.

The guy gets a couple drinks in him and turns into Johnny 23 (Con-Air Reference)

I just think other then mandatory alcohol treatment and a few game checks suspending him for any amount regular season games will set a new precedent in the NFL.

IMO I don't think it will happen but the word around the water cooler seems to be that it will.

So We'll see, I don't think he will be traded either.

So do they agree he should be suspended?

They should trade him to New Orleans, rape is legal there during Mardi Gras so he would have one week during the offseason to get it all out of his system.

lol. Funny, but just wrong. :P

Pac Man has been charged with several crimes and covicted of a felony.

http://nashvillecitypaper.com/content/sports/pacman-jones-reaches-plea-deal-georgia-case

Rothlisberger was not charged of a crime. It's hard to do anything to him if he wasn't even charged. I think he's crap, but he apparently knows how to get away with rape without getting charged.

Per the article "technically" a convicted felon based on a "no contest" plea.

Here's a quick tip though. Check the date of the article you cited. Then go back and check which season Pac Man lost to suspension. Then come back and tell me again whether or not the league - or a team - can suspend someone without a conviction.

PFT: League lays foundation for suspending players without arrest or chargess

i couldn't tell you... i have a feeling that he'll be suspended though. given the fact that the steelers' rep has been brutally damaged this offseason... i mean, even their kicker, Reed, had some kind of drunken run-in with the law i'm pretty sure. however, if the league doesn't punish him for whatever reason, i don't think the Rooney's can keep him on the team without dishing out some kind of punishment. and it'll definitely be more than community service.

    • It all sounds great. The only unknowns are injuries and how they will need to be addressed. Horn has a history as does the newly added Jaelen Phillips and Cooker has yet to play an entire season as well. And then there are the Ikey's - totally unexpecteded injuries that put a major wrench in your plans. I do think its a great plan though.
    • If we pay Bryce like a franchise QB we're completely and utterly buttfuged.
    • In my view, the realistic expectation for this team to compete will start 2027.  At that time, I think we could be looking at the following (this is HIGHLY speculative):   QB:  You know, Bryce.  I am not a fan, but they don't ask me.  But there is reason for hope--and here it is.  Bryce will be entering his prime.  Since we are likely to pay him, there will be changes that I include throughout this exercise--I realistically speculate on what they are going to do with Bryce and then I realistically speculate on what means in terms of the cap and other positions. Bryce HAS IMPROVED.  The idea is that if you give him more weapons and protection, that will continue.  His career:   At this rate, if his growth continues, by 2027 we should expect nearly 30 TDs and about 12 Interceptions and a Rating of about 98.  His completion percentage should settle at 65-66% or so.  If that happens, you can win with it. The following stats demonstrate how the Panthers will be able to afford it (and re-sign Ickey) My guess is they will require about $60m per year. This is why rookies who can play are important.  It also helps us see the blueprint.  You may disagree, but this is the cruel realities of the salary cap. Robert Hunt:  Cut post June 1 and save $19m.  Who do you replace him with?  Ickey. Tershawn Wharton:  Cutting him saves nearly $15m.  We should all hope to see Aaron Hall (UDFA) make the roster and play well.  Regardless, this is a position we would likely have to address in the next draft. Trevin Moehrig:  Cutting Moehrig as the starting SS saves this team $16.5m.   Ransom will be on year 3 of a cheap rookie deal and should be more than ready to take the reins.  their styles are similar.  Furthermore, FS Wheatley (R, 4th round) will be starting. Taylor Moton:  So much depends on his knee, but I have an idea that he can play another 3 years.  extending him could save the team about $5m per year.  Cutting him outright would save the team about $21m. In the most drastic situation, we have to cut Moton and the other three players mentioned.   We would need (in all likelihood) a starting DT and RT.  It is possible that the DE would be addressed, but Wharton's production (so far) could be equaled by a rookie.  Look for a cut free agent and a 2027 draft pick here.  If you cut Moton, you save $21m, and that would be the only big hole to fill.  Having Ickey at RG gives you some depth at T, and Ickey could be the guy.  T could be pick in the 2027 draft (first round), fwiw.  It saves you $21m while costing you $5m, for example. We get younger, creating a core of Freeling, Hecht, and the RT first rounder in 2027) along with Ekownu (second contract in the $15m range, and Lewis, whose contract would be in the $16m range if not extended.)  The OL cuts (Hunt, Moton) would save $40m.  The OL would get younger and still solid with veterans at G.   By cutting Wharton (no brainer if his play stays the same) and Moehrig (good player--but we have Ransom on a rookie contract who would not be that much of a drop off--if any) in addition to Hunt and Moton, we would save over $70m in cap room. We would be able to give Bryce bag  and we would have enough to re-sign Ickey (if the knee is not too risky) to a Guard contract (probably at a discount, coming off that injury).  Furthermore, we could add a RT in the draft (or a RG if Ickey moves to RT) and that would be the only large hole to fill. Correct my logic if you see issues-- On defense, in addition to the aforementioned, Scott ($2m contract) is out, replaced by a 4th round rookie contract. CB Jackson's contract ($7.8m) expires and he is (possibly) replaced by a rookie contract.  At Edge, patrick Jones II's $10m contract expires and he is likely a reserve, and his role is absorbed by Phillips, Scourton, Princely, and possible an UDFA like Isaiah Smith or a 2027 draft pick.   These productive developmental players over the past 2 drafts will pay huge dividends.  On paper, I see the team getting much younger and possibly better while cutting nearly $100m and reallocating that money to get more production.
