Well I closed the game already without checking his footwork on that one but in general he has improved his mechanics. Not much regression yesterday, though it looked like he was flirting with it at times.

I thought they would pressure him more and was hoping to get a better test of how far along that was, in terms of has it 'taken'. Because it is the same scenario with the Buffalo preseason series where he had adopted the 'proper' form and got improved ball flight and zip and accuracy, the whole deal and then when NO started hitting him and pressuring him it did not take much time for it to all go out the window.

That's still the big test to me, of if we can expect to see him operate at the level required.

Iirc young got absolutely drilled a couple times while throwing the ball and he still stepped into it and i think completed a couple. He was also successful vs. The blitz and also didn't get hurt which is a big deal

I get that. But he still is struggling to throw the ball effectively downfield.

No he isn’t, just doesn’t have legitimate downfield threats.  Coker and Thielen have  the best hands but can’t stretch the field.  XL has the speed but not the hands and route running.

I want to throw in how much easier it is for a QB to develop and improve with a good oline.  Huge credit to the front office for spending the money on our two guards.  Cade Mays also had a 2nd really good game starting at center.  Love how he has developed and hope he's the real deal.

Look at what Stroud is dealing with now in Houston after injuries and problems with their oline.  Strouds accuracy has been greatly affected as it seems like he doesn't trust his protection.

Canales is doing a great job developing Bryce.  I think the QB whisperer might be for real.

And obviously big props to Bryce.  First round pick that looks horrible in his first year.  Different coaches and systems.  Fans and media are calling him the biggest bust in NFL history and he looked like it in the first two games this year.  Gets benched.

Young man keep his cool and just continued to work and only worry about what he can control.

I hope things continue like this and we end up with a great success story.

Bryce Young kept pounding.

The one thing I can say for a fact is the man can take a shot.

Whatever he is doing to bounce back up like nothing happened is working.

I'm glad he's not getting lit up multiple times per game like last year but he took some hard hits this game but that is part of the game.  Sometimes that is the only way to complete the pass.

    • I can say that I have defended Canales because I get that they are doing all they can to keep from looking like idiots for drafting Bryce, from the trade up to signing $150m guards to drafting XL and Brooks etc---nothing seems to work.  And Hiring Canales was part of the Bryce Young rehab program, so so he can't really decide to "move on."  That has to come from Morgan and Tepper. Personally, I think Bryce is due for an injury.  He is small, he is not thick, and he has been a LOT more healthy than most any other QB has who has endured so much pressure.  The thing that bothers me is this---Bryce really does not go through his progressions quickly.  He locks on to his presnap read and stays locked onto him for too long--he seems to fail to anticipate the WR/TE's positioning on the play before the cut--for example, if the WR is running a dig and the CB has his back to the inside of the field, he should be open for a second or less just after the cut.  He seems to wait until the cut has been made before deciding, then checking down quickly while moving in the pocket. OL:  There seems to be a lack of communication--is that on Mays?  Watch this team presnap--they seem a bit confused at times.   I can almost predict the success rate of the play by watching the center and QB before the snap.
    • Anyone else remember back in 2010 when Fox piloted having music under the in-game replays during one of Carolina's games? Not the commercial bumpers but the actual replay clips that the announcers would talk over. Pretty sure it was vs the 49ers. And it was terrible. Point being, Carolina continues being so bad that we get the networks trying things out during their games.
    • Is it bad I found this video more hilarious than pathetic? I am still laughing at that one play where half the people on the field ran into each other and Bryce still couldn't see Chuba wide open... Also laughing at Cade blocking nobody and somehow losing his cleat Man this offense is a poo show
