Seahawks working the phones to find a 1st round trade-down partner...

What makes Carolina's offense great is having not 1 but 2 elite running backs. Why would you want to trade 1 of our elite players for an unproven rookie who could end up busting? Age/contract situation aside, that really defeats what Hurney and Fox are trying to accomplish.

Atlanta for example, they are based around the run and look what happened to Turner after being over-used in 2008...

Yup, it's the 1-2 punch that makes our running game special and we don't have anyone on the roster at the moment that we know can step up.

DeAngelo has got to be one of the most under appreciated Panthers of all time. This guy has done nothing but put up HOF career #'s so far and everyone is ready to ship him off for a draft pick.

Not only that but he is a straight shooting, model citizen/player.

Just putting up the #'s doesn't put you in the HOF and he has to do it for longer than he has, but look at some all-time lists and you'll see his stats stack up pretty well so far.

the only stat that can comes close to comparison is his career ypc...something that isn't the focus of most serious discussions about the all-time greats.

...and even then the ypc comparison is skewed. he's only had 2 seasons with significant attempts. the first season (2007) he only had 144 carries, far less than some of the people he's trying to be compared to.

he's going to need a healthier body of work to be considered HOF material.

Okay, forget about the HOF - it's really not my point - my point is that he's an elite HB and allot of folks are ready to trade him away at a moments notice for a draft pick.

Good HB's may be a dime-a-dozen but elite HB's like DeAngelo are not.

a dream has nothing to do with my faith in the team.

i do have faith in hurney's almost uncanny ability to avoid first round draft busts, and in his guts to pull the trigger on anything that will overall make the team better regardless of how weak/bad the move looks now.

if it happens, it happens. if it doesn't, oh well.

my purpose for mentioning the dream is simply for fun.

I traded D-will in my most recent mock just for fun like you said. I also traded marshall. You should read it, it's insane. Everybody hates it but it sure was fun to put together.

he's had 1 good season, 1 solid season, and 2 that are pretty much forgettable.

imo, stewart and williams are nfl elites as long as they're viewed as a tandem. seperately, they're franchise elites since they each hold just about every franchise record...but not nfl elites yet.
