The draft and Fox's future

Lumps

Wow so I think we can all say the Panther's are surprising everyone with these picks but I want to know what does this mean for Fox? Are they really letting Fox mold all these QBs with NO vets to help?

Is this a sign Fox is staying or going? I can see it being very desirable for a new coach to walk into a franchise qb and tons of talent elsewhere. The Fox era has to end eventually, its been a decade, these picks make me think that aside from a championship game with these young guys Fox won't be returning...then again he could be set up for another 5 years...

Moore, Clausen and Cantwell = "all these Qb's"?

I don't get it, who said we're not going to pick up a vet at some point? Cantwell will stay on the PS and we'll carry three QB's like always, with one being a vet.

I don't get the rest of it.

The idea around 'all these qbs', is really all the 'competent qbs'.

Up until now the Panther's have not had a QB better than Delhomme, or even with the potential (cept matt, unless you ask Fox) of being better which is pretty bad, but fact nonetheless.

Winning is key but say we got 9-7 or 8-8 again...whoch is pretty likley, Fox still here?

honestly, I have a feeling he will be here..

and to clarify, the word to draft Clausen was an owner's pick.. meaning Richardson wanted him.

also, Vets don't mold QBs... a QB coach molds the QB.. lol

Vets are an added bonus to help the kid out..

Bleys, where did you hear that about Richardson?

And I don't think Fox is drafting like it's a "win now or else" year. The LaFell pick is the only one that fits that mentality, and it was a good pick regardless.

I'm going to have a hard time remembering where I found that..

Edit: can't find a link other than the report that was posted on the Huddle.. to which it doesn't have that text anywhere when you click the link..

Adam Schein reports it... let me dig further..

Fox can be maddening, just maddening.

He is very well respected it seems by the 'talking heads' and his coaching peers.

There are two things that bother me about him, staying to long with Delhomme. Hurney too for that matter and not adjusting as he appears to get outcoached against better opponents and that could be because everyone knows, people in the stands, the writers, the other team, on what he is going to call offensively and defensively. Larry Fitzgerald running wild in that playoff game is just as burned in everyone's memories as Delhomme's implosion.

All that said, nothing would make me happier than to see him have a great year with these young players and be able to stay.

I'm not sure he will ever be a Super Bowl winner; but, who can predict such things.

I do miss the John Fox of his first year, when he would talk to fans before the game and after and didn't hide behind coach speak and platitudes; but, we all change in time, don't we.

Here's Gantt talking about it, and in the way he words things you can infer that Richardson was behind it:

You don't draft a potential franchise QB and trade a future second-rounder to select an undersized conversion project without a mandate from above.
But when you take it in context, he's talking about Hurney's job security:

Although GM Marty Hurney's future has been much discussed, it's always been a non-story inside the building. And if there was any doubt, it was removed last night.

You don't draft a potential franchise QB and trade a future second-rounder to select an undersized conversion project without a mandate from above.

Hurney's got one. He always has.

I listened to the Adam Schein video talking about our selection and he just gushes about Fox and Hurney's pick.

Honestly, I think they wanted a QB an thought Clausen was the BPA at the same time. It makes me think there's something we don't know about Moore that has them worried (like a tendency they can't get rid of which just hasn't been picked up yet).
