for those that missed it, at first he went on and on about how The Golden Calf of Bristol was a great pick.. then comes Clausen..

he didn't say a damn word about his experience in a pro style offense, or his accuracy or the fact he can make every throw, the only thing he talked about was his leadership/attitude/etc. went on to say that several teams passed on him in the 2nd round(included Raiders, Bills, Vikes) for a reason, without specifying a reason besides leadership problems.. and then said the reason Carolina picked him was a "he's available, why not?"

the others at the desk all said he was a steal, and that he'll have the best chance to succeed in Carolina because of the o-line/run game/Steve Smith/etc. Skip just had to be different so he said bust.

It makes me happy that Skip thinks Clausen will be a bust.

It makes me happy that we weren't grouped with teams like the Bills and the Raiders who "made the right move and passed on him." I mean really? Questioning a draft pick because the Raiders passed on him?? What a joke...

I hope that he doesn't have the chance to be a bust. I would love for Moore to take this job and own it like a true Pro Bowler.

I think that would be the best case senario for this team. For Clausen to get the job would probably have to mean that Moore blew it, or else got hurt.

Part of the genius about picking 3 QBs this draft is that even if Clausen is a bust Pike might be good and Edwards could be our version of a smart high character Michael Vick. Best of all we didn't pay an arm and leg for them. Really we couldn't have done much better at this point.

    • These kickers are getting so good
    • They're pretty far off, double T-Mac's stats to get to the same targets as XL and it would be 4 drops to 7.  A 3 drop difference might not sound like a lot, but it's still almost twice as many drops on the same number of targets. Not to mention, if I remember correctly, XL's drop problems last year seemed more down field, where he was dropping passes he should be making and it was clear his poor hands were there reason he dropped them. And weren't both of T-Mac's drops this year on quick hitters with blockers out in front of him?  I know at least the second one was as he was going to go for a huge play and maybe a TD on it. To me, and yes, I'd say this about any other player, those are drops because a rookie was trying to do too much in making a play before securing the catch.  Much easier to improve upon a lapse in concentration than dropping passes because you have bricks for hands and body catch more often than hands catch, like with XL. And yes, 100%, which is why I wasn't one of those people you were referring to with talking about him that way last year.  Yes, I said he had drop problems., because he did, but I didn't think they were unsolvable and expected to see great improvement this year after an offseason of hitting the juggs machine (unfortunately not sure that happened though).
