My old boss... who is an Irish immigrant, tried these for the first time back when I worked for him... he told me:

"I kinda liked 'em, but the shells were too crunchy..."

Yes, he ate them shells and all...

He was a Panthers fan, but that's about all he got right.

the lady who sold them to me said some folks ate the shell especially the peanuts that were fried

OK... I've never had them fried... but I can't see eating the shell...

I love boiled (bawled) peanuts... they are awesome... but it also depends on who cooks them too... some people don't know how.

I do NOT ever eat them hot, that's nasty... gotta eat 'em cold.

Stopping at Sheffields in Ocean Isle Beach for boiled peanuts was a tradition when I was a child. I hated boiled peanuts at the time so my father would buy me a pepsi (glass bottle of course) and pour shelled peanuts in the bottle. I don't know where the hell this came fom, but for some reason I liked it. Haven't done it in a long time - might have to give that a go next time I see Pepsi in a glass bottle.

They are SOOOOOO much better hot. My gf's dad always gets some at a flea market that are awesome. I think the guy hasn't cleaned the pot in 20+ years.

I don't like them hot anytime...

There was this old guy that always sat out in front of the Piggly Wiggly in my home town when I was growing up, his name was Saul and he had to be about 85 when I was 10 or so... he sold them out of a cooler in the bed of his pickup. Man those things were awesome.

Dude...Buffaloe's on Wrightsville Ave. They boil their own, and they're the big fat juicy ones.
