Halo Reach Beta

First Impressions:

Overall, I think Reach is going to be a great game. Although, it looks like there is going to be serious skill gap in between casual and hardcore players (but thats what The Arena is for). It's only the beta, but it is definitely headed in the right direction.

Damn, was out of town all weekend, have to spend time with the GF tonight. Going to baseball game tomorrow night. Probably won't get to play until Wednesday.

First impressions? How is it?

That might actually be a good thing for you, the severs will probably be back to normal by then.

The game is fantastic, a lot of the stuff I was wondering how it would work, turned out to work great, plays like a cross between H3 and H1 and a few things all it's own.

Halo will reclaim it's title as the best console FPS for sure when it comes out this fall.

Like I said, I never was a fan of Halo so it's not surprising to me that I don't care for Reach. I think the armor abilities are pretty lame except for the jet pack.

I know all of the Halo fanboys have a collective chubby right now. But Halo continues to be one of the most overrated multiplayer games I have ever played.

As someone who has played a great many FPSs and find Halo to be one of the most fun, I'm really curious as to what you think holds the game down and makes it overrated.

I have been bombarded with Halo love for years by a few friends of mine. I finally got around to playing it and i just don't see what's so great about it. For one thing, I am not a huge fan of Sci-Fi shooters. Also, i was way late to the party and people had obviously been playing for a long time. Halo doesn't offer much of a learning curve when you are two years behind.

I thought Reach(around) would change my mind but so far it has not. I am going to play it some more and see if it grows on me.

I don't play games online to pwn noobz and all of that. I play for fun. Right now, BC2 is the most fun I can have. I am very curious about Red Dead Redemption's multiplayer.

This is all my opinion, of course.

Played it for a few hours yesterday, very very different from any previous Halos. I miss the BR. The rifle that replaces it is just OK. There are some other cool new weapons though. That blue laser beam thing is pretty good and the plasma sticky grenade shooter. Overall it's going to be a great game, it still hasn't pushed the envelope by far.

Give me Modern Warfare 2 w/ destructable enviornments (and no glitches) and then you will push the envelope.

A lot of people just want a game that plays well with a few new things. That's what people wanted in MW2, instead they put some really bad perks, too many killstreaks, and some other things that ruined gameplay. Graphics are nice but after a month you get used to anything. CoD4 is still a superior game to MW2 because it just played smoother online and people had to be pretty good on there, the way it should be.

I don't play Halo, but if they make a game that plays smooth with great gameplay, they have succeeded and I expect a lot of people to leave MW2 to play Halo.

    • he used to have nothing good to say about them. put him on the payroll...problem solved.
    • I am also intrigued by Mohammad. Could be another story. Seems like he has the talent but seems to have had some issues with coaching schemes/changes,  some attitude and work ethic issues? Hopefully his being home can get him focused. Here is what I read ( all second hand to me ) :    1- He has all the skills but was nonexistent under two different coaching staffs. He butted heads and was benched under Jimbo (for wearing sleeves under his uniform after the coaching staff told him not to 🙄). Then under the new staff, he rarely saw the field – he had just 55 yards last season. When he saw the field, he either made the most impressive play of the game or would get an unsportsmanlike penalty. Just a bizarre case because he has the talent.     2 -Aggie here to provide some insight. As the other poster mentioned, Moose had a weird time at A&M and it didn't help that Jimbo's offense was painful and wide receivers never seemed to excel. His third year was promising but he was also competing with Evan Stewart, Noah Thomas, and Chase Lane who I'm pretty sure were all 5*s. Also Ainais Smith and Devon achane ran majority of the offense. That said, going into his last year with Jimbo, a couple guys like Lane and Achane left, and most Ags thought this would be the year Moose really steps up. Unfortunately as the other poster mentions, he disappeared into misconduct and coaching change.
    • I'm more impressed with the UDFA that the guys they have drafted in the first the last 2 years. A whole lot of prove it is still needed before any improvement should be talked about seriously.
