How confused would you be with the Panthers if...

we signed Darren Sharper....something that goes against all that we've been doing but who the hell knows anymore..

Actually would be a great pick-up by the FO. Would get all these assholes screaming about LEADERSHIP1!!11111! to STFU.

He is a company man that knows how to toe the line, brings instant credit and respectability coming from a SB winner. He is more accomplished in cover than Harris and would definetly be a good teacher for Martin and Godfrey.

Hahaha. That would make no sense at all whatsoever. Seriously, if that happened...I wouldn't even know what to think.

Not that he isn't a great player...I wish we picked him up. It just goes against everything we've done this offseason.

it would show that it was all about the money and not age, but y not use the draft reasoning? he was the best available and just too good to pass up?

    • I get it's disappointing, but this was definitely a seller's market and the only players traded away were players that would be depth pieces at best for us. A lot of the top teams (Avs, Stars, Lightning, Wild post Hughes) really only traded for depth pieces. Just a terrible trade deadline all around and I'm glad we didn't cave and sell the farm for somebody like Tro (even though I like him and he fits our team well).
    • Yes the Icky thing really kills us this year with a 17.4 I think, million dollar hole, for nothing.     His extension would likely have reduced his 2026 hit. But the extension was going to be massive.    At the same time, the massive extension money is largely freed up now and can go elsewhere.  There is just no way he should be in line for the same payday as pre injury.  I say largely freed because maybe we can do a little hollowed out extension to give him a window to get back and stay with the team past this year. Snap count and/or other incentives for 2027. Something that leaves the door open for him to get a fresh contract that reflects his value moving into 2028. Whatever that proves to be.  We’d have a lot of that money that was earmarked for his extension available to us starting next year.
    • What a major letdown. This team will forever disappoint me
