Is Weis in our future?

I still believe the next coach (assuming Fox gets the axe) is a young DC in the league.

I agree. Cowher, Grunden, etc. have done what they are going to do in this league imo.....we need to find a guy that has yet to make his mark.

if weiss were to get fired, I'm sure that Fox could get him a job on the team, but it wouldnt be head coach.

weiss would probably be able to do better than that somewhere else.

i think fox stays for a few more years, unless he does really bad this season. fox is not a bad coach, and if they were going to fire him, they would have done it already.

weiss was fired and he didn't find a better job than OC.

also...they wouldn't have to fire fox. just don't sign him to another contract. the fact that they didn't fire him after last year doesn't mean a whole lot. he was in the last year of a very expensive contract and there is a chance that there is no football in 2011. you would have to pay twice as much for a coach this year plus likely have to fire a bunch of other coaches and hire a bunch of new ones and then pay them for a year without football...just seems like too much hassle. let him finish his contract and then be done with him. hire a new HC and staff when they have a clearer idea of what 2011 is going to be like.

he didn't work out in notre dame because his offense was waaaaaayyy too complicated for a bunch of college kids who didn't have near the amount of time needed to do it well. weiss' offense was well ahead of anyone else at the college level.

He didn't work out for ND because coaching is only half the work, recruiting is the other. He got some good offensive players but lacked on defense. Regardless, I do not see Weiss landing this job OR ANY NFL head coaching positions. Some of these assumptions are way to elementary.

    • Bryce has been playing the best ball of his career the last three games IMO. He wasn't the reason we dropped the game in NOLA. Seattle's defense will be his toughest challenge yet this season
    • I'll be at the game Sunday and up until last year I had a perfect attendance record. Now however I have seen us lose to the Chiefs (last year) and the Bills (this year). So we can no longer rely solely on my ability to pound overpriced beers to propel us to a win.
    • I haven't been able to watch Seattle on a dedicated basis but the Seahawks are a much better team by the all accounts: eye test, record and DVOA. Defensively they are sick. Best DVOA in the league first in rushing and second in passing. Offensively their passing game has been on fire this year led by JSN I can easily see this being like the Buffalo game where things just get out of hand for us early, that being said this league really is week to week and Seattle does have the disadvantage of traveling cross country for an early game.  If and big if, the Panthers are able to effectively run the ball and limit the amount of time Seattle's offense has to generate explosive plays we have a path to winning this game.  Seattle fans won't be happy to hear this but bad Darnold is always lurking in the background. He is truly an enigma to root for bc he will have an incredible throw that only a few people can make but then will turn around and throw the most bone headed pick of all time.  I think ultimately we drop this one as ultimately it's human nature to be looking forward to that week 18 game. But man how special would it be to be leaving the stadium on Sunday with a win and a miracle dolphins upset
