Been playing Dead Space

I strolled into my local Gamestop this week looking for something good but cheap, and I saw a used Dead Space for $17 and figured "what the hell why not" and I must say it's one of the better games I've picked up in a while, game play was great, and the game while initially making me a little jumpy it just becomes a grind after a while.

I liked the Armor and Weapons system to the game, only thing though if you pace it right the game basically stays at the same difficulty the entire way through, now I'm playing through on Medium which is the default, which it plays very good on, not too hard or too easy for a vet gamer.

And here's he kicker, Gamestop has this program with used games that if you don't like it after a week you can either return for a full refund or get store credit towards another game.

So I picked up Dead Space and put a pre-order down on Red Dead and I'll return Dead Space on Monday and play Red Dead on Tuesday.

I do believe this is a good thing to take advantage of fellas.

I thought it was pretty lame. I have always been a big fan of survival horror games but they have just not been goo lately. Alan Wake might be the game to change that.

You have to play Dead Space on the hardest difficulty or it just plays like an action game. I found myself constantly out of ammo and getting slaughtered time and time again. I agree that the survival horror genre hasn't been the same since RE4 turned the genre more towards action and away from puzzle solving, but damn I loved Dead Space.

As for the gamestop return policy, there has to be some limit to it. Obviously people would take advantage of it, and if you're buying and returning a game every week the staff will eventually tell you to GTFO.

Oh and the fully upgraded plasma rifle = beast.

Is that the one where everything pops out waving their arms for 5 minutes before they attack?

In the beginning yeah, towards the middle they swarm a lot more and some faster enemies appear. This game isn't to difficult if you upgrade your armor and weapons quickly and spam the hell out of the stasis.

    • For Bryce’s obvious shortcomings (bad pun), there is upside to his game. This isn’t being a homer or apologists, but I like to consider myself fair in criticism.  He’s far tougher than I ever thought he’d be. I really thought homie would have been broken in half by now. I don’t know how he’s not, but he’s not.  He is prone to turning the ball over early in games which digs a huge hole the team is not built to come back from, but dude DOES come up with crucial first down in crucial situations. It’s NEVER pretty, but he just kind of has the shining. He gets bailed out LOTS, and the team still loses games because of him, but he’s a bit of an enigma. He’s a turnover machine that is clutch in big moments.  He’s a smart/elusive cat. He kind of has to be with his limitations. His audibles are almost always correct and he understands coverages. I don’t see him getting fooled too frequently. His turnovers are almost never the ‘damnit Jake/Cam!’ brand we have been accustomed to. They are ALWAYS due to his size/strength limitations.  Strip sacks that shouldn’t be. Picks that happened because he just don’t got that NFL arm. He is still prone to panicking and the wheels can and do fall off at a much higher rate than his peers.  The team is winning on the backs of the defense, running game and special teams… but they’re winning, and unbelievably 1 game behind Tampa. As long as this is happening and Bryce doesn’t go full meltdown, Dave is going to keep him in. He is not getting pulled.
    • This was a terrible podcast. A bunch of uninformed homers that had worse takes than the bottom 10% of the Huddle. I listened to a handful of podcasts this past offseason in search of new Panthers material since John Ellis doesn't do his pod anymore and The 4 Man Rush don't either. Immediately deleted it after the handful I listened to. Truly terrible.
    • The NFC South was so bad it sent a team with a losing record to the Playoffs that year. Wilks had players playing hard at the end but let’s not act like that was a good season. That season hurts even more now that we see in hindsight how good our QB situation was. We just didn’t know it.
