Hate to distract from the game but this is disturbing news

About Peps and Jordan Gross. From nationalfootballpost.com

Mike Lombardi is a very well respected football insider.

Notes From Lombardi

FROM MICHAEL LOMBARDI:

FIVE THINGS I HEAR…

1. I hear the ‘Skins might open the big wallets to try and acquire Carolina offensive tackle Jordan Gross when he becomes a free agent in March. They will have a ton of competition.

2. I hear that defensive end Julius Peppers is not even close to a new deal with the Panthers and undoubtedly will be franchised, which will not sit very well with him. Mr. Peppers is planning his next move when that happens.

ah yes.... the annual "skins will throw money at their problems" story....

Peppers is close to a new deal, it has been reported that his offer would put him as the highest paid DE in the game, I don't know what else he would want more than that... once Peppers is inked, then there is a beautiful Franchise tag that can be placed on Gross if a deal is not struck... Lombardi is just living off the coattails of his family last name

Yeah, I kind of have a gut feeling that there might be some truth to this. However, I thought the 'skins had the interest in Pep.

the Skins thing though has been floating around since 2007(forgot it was 2009 for a minute), so I don't know about that, with the coach they have and with Jason Taylor I doubt they'd be so eager to dish out stupid size contracts for anyone at the moment.

I live in the DC area and one thing I have learned is to never doubt the stupidity of Redskin owner Daniel Snyder.

Typically, whenever the Skins give someone a big FA deal they turn out to suck anyway, so if you lose him to them he was never that good anyhow.

"FIVE THINGS I HEAR…"

yeah and I have heard my wife tell me ALL KINDS OF poo and even though I KNOW that I heard them - that has no actual relavance to what everyone else refers to as "truth" or "fact".

they will both be resigned...especially after a playoff appearance.

...SO...let us be done with this douchbaggery nonsense and shennanigans, and focus on the facts at hand...

PLAYOFFS!!! MUTHAfugAS!!!

(btw - aint nothing here that speaks "respected insider" to me whatsoever )

    • Exactly.  You let him play out next season and continue to develop Thorton.  Jackson’s earned his next contract, but his age and the risk of tying up such a large portion of the payroll at one position leads me to believe that we’ll let him walk. In all likelihood, we’ll draft another CB, or two, and bring in some journeymen to fill the roster void, between now and the start of the 2027 season.  That’ll create more balance financially across the roster enabling us to invest in other areas.
    • As far as the NFCS … I think this division will be hotly contested the next couple of years.   I am tending to pay more respect to both Atlanta and the Saints n terms of how strong they will be moving forward, than not.    I am mixed on Ryan but think they have a decent roster to start with. I don’t think he blundered hiring Stefanski. And that offense can be dangerous with a QB. Plus, defense is arrow up. No 1st round pick, WB issues will dull their effectiveness. Question is, to what degree?   I think Moore is going to be a good HC and can overcome tape that people have on Shough. They need a lot but they were playing with people. Just the way you want to see all the way to the end.    Not sure about Tampa they have Mayfield but I don’t think they can maintain their success and Bowles is not going to last much longer. They have to go through all that. Gonna be tough once it starts. Might already have started.    For us I feel pretty good about Morgan. But less so about our offense, we have some short term RB and OL issues and those things are critical given what we are working with at QB.  Overall, mixed. Like a lot of what I see but some major question marks remain.
    • Absolutely. If we are talking about a 20 year old youngster. He's a grown-ass man, and he doesn't know what his job entails or how to do it? Maybe he will be better next year! It's the Panther way.
