Daniel Jeremiah: Panthers prime trade candidate

It sounds like QB Tyler Slough is flying up the draft boards, he’s a bit older, but so was Nix, Penix etc. He might, just might, be someone teams want to trade up to get around where we pick 🤞

I have mostly seen him in the 4th to 7th round in evaluations. I don't think he is a factor for trading up unless he really destroys the combine.

You might be right, I’ve just seen a lot about him lately, even being talked about as QB2. I wonder if he is way higher with teams vs. the draft analyst group. Every year there are a few players that come out of nowhere. But it might be a stretch, no doubt

IDK. I don't think that is the case. The scuttlebutt seems to be that this is a very, very bad QB draft outside the top two guys.

bold prediction, I think Mike Green will be the best pass rusher in this class, and thats even with abdul carter.  He reminds me of demarcus ware, not just in size and prowess, but even coming from a Sunbelt school (Ware from Troy, Green from Marshall).  I think he is passionate about the sport where I think Carter as the physical freak might not have the heart.  Thats the guy Im sold on and am gonna hammer the table for, I know he's not projected 8, but he is projected like 12-13, so if a slide back can happen and we still get the guy I want, I'm 100% on board.

All that said, it takes 2 to tango, I think the Cowboys are the tango-er.  IMO theres a VERY good shot that Jeanty is available at 8.  Why does that matter?  Not only do the cowboys NEED a runningback (dak sucks without a run game), but MORE importantly, gee where did Jeanty play in high school.....Frisco TX, literally Dallas Metro.  Soo, RB is a position of need and the best RB and most blue chip draft selection that  could improve the offense immensly played IN dallas metro AND will be in range for them to move up and pick?  Do ya think Jerry Jones is gonna just say no to the Jersey Sales?  Jerry might have sexually assaulted a woman and attempted to prevent black people from going to school, but he's no idiot (he is).  IMO, we get a good enough package, prlly their first and third,  maybe a conditional later and we move to 12.  We get Green, they get Jeanty, everbuddy happy.

He heard he has character concerns that need to be vetted

great thoughts and all. What we know right is 100% Carter and Hunter will not make it to #8( without gasmask dead hooker ). Nearly 99.9% believe both QBs will go in the top ten. So the drafts starts at #5. Jeanty almost should go there, he's that talented and I hate hate hate using draft picks on RBs. But this is the weirdest draft in some years, so go bold/out of the box/space picks are in play.

I do feel #8 with have loads of trade calls, like vastly more than past years. Its a great spot for OT and there's 3 LT that could easily go there. If a team wants "the best LT" in the draft, you need to call Dan/Panthers.

There's about 20-30 players that could go 5-35. Many could be in the top ten range on a few teams boards and those same players could be in 40s on other teams board. This should be a great draft for playoff teams, cause the same level of players was picked 6th overall.

    • I need to actually do a full analysis but I think the issue was more that we'd rarely have top-to-bottom awesome drafts but we'd frequently have drafts where only 2-3 players panned out, but the 1st is a Pro Bowler and the other two solid starters or backups. We rarely had drafts where only 1 player was good, and we never had absolute useless drafts. At the very least we always had one really, really good guy. The worst was probably 2005 where we got Thomas Davis (Hall of Honor-quality player) and Geoff Hangartener. Evan Mathis was good, but only after he left.
    • Hurney wasn’t good with contracts but I think he was probably above average at drafting.  Not saying he was great.  Just that most draft classes are worthless.
    • Ehh, teams earlier this season double and tripled teamed him with decent success. The reason he beasted out so much with Miami was for some reason they did not much at all. Bad call on their part. But that is his purpose. If he is eating up people that is huge, and theoretically should give others the ability to make a play. But his surrounding cast to do that isn’t great. Brown is something OCs have to put a lot of time to plan for.
