Randy Moss.....best ever (besides Rice)

Moss is second best ever and it's not close.

And for the Brady + Moss = 0 superbowl hate...... clearly you can blame Moss for Tyree's once in a lifetime catch and the Pat's CB falling while trying to cover Plex on the game winning score. Blame Randy while hes watching this happen from the sideline. The next season, Brady and Moss played together for 2 QUARTERS of football before Brady went down with an injury for the entire season. That only leaves last year. All the haters make it seem they've been superbowl title-less for a decade. These 2 have only played together for 2 seasons. Oh yeah and in that span they went 26-6

but keep on hating....

Moss is a good deep threat, and a huge red zone target.

That has made him a very prolific receiver in this league.

I don't even have him in my top 5, cause he is not a complete receiver.

That is a joke. I guess Jerry Rice wasnt a complete WR because he couldnt go up and come down with a job ball then. I guess Hines Ward isnt a complete WR because he wont beat you deep.

I'll take a guy who puts up HUGE stats that gives his team an advantage by constantly needing double coverage, over your "complete WR".

One of the best.

However, I would probably draft Torry Holt over him if I were starting a team and could have any WR over the past 20 years.

No you wouldnt. Torry Holt has done nothing the best 3-4 years. Defenses dont prepare for Holt like they do Moss.

The reality is that he started with a team with a decent QB, a decent running game, and quality on the other end of the line (Minnesota with Cunningham, George, Culpepper as QBs, Smith as RB and HOFer CArter as WR). He went to Oakland where he had crap and performed like it, then landed in NE with Brady, a decent committe of RBs (Maroney, Morris Faulk) and Welker on the other side and he excelled again.

What about the fact that in reality Rice was part of a dynasty team and in his entire career he has played only with two hall of fame QBs back to back, one learning from the other (Joe and Steve). So how do we know Rice wasn't really all that great? Or Joe? or Steve?

Fact is you can say what and make excuses but in the end they seemed to be the best. I have nothing against Rice, he is the man and the best. No hate for Moss either although he did have good teams as well, I think Moss will easily be in top 5 of all time and he has some extreme talent.

No one is going to breakdown which receiver is best under the conditions they had simply because it becomes a very subjective argument at that point, so talking in the general sense Moss IS one of the best like him or not.

Once again, point out anyplace that I posted otherwise. I only pointed out that the author of that article intentionally ignored Moss's days in Oakland most likely because they don't support his theory that Moss makes QBs better. My point is that the Minnesota and NE teams he played on made him better. I believe that the evidence sides with me. I never argued that his accomplishments were not some of the best for a WR. You're getting you panties bunched up about things I never posted. Now where the hell is that dark chocolate syrup.

BS

WHy didn't the author show the improvement in the Raiders' QBs while Moss was there? Maybe because there was none?

It ain't all about Moss.

maybe he really didnt want to play there???? it wasobvious he didnt want to play there and for gods sake, its the damn raiders, nobody looks good on offense there

He wanted traded out of Minnesota, got it and claimed he was good with the Raiders at all interviews. He didn't get upset with the situation there until he saw how devoid of talent they were on offense then decided to shutdown. That IMO doesn't make him the player claimed in the article.

any player that is freshly traded to a new team will put on a front for the media, but I for one am a moss fan and watching the games when he was in oakland you could see by his actions on the sideline and his half effort every play that he didnt want to be there, and that along with there being no other talent would cause anybody to have bad numbers

    • Great article on all the Lil Canes attending their debutantes ball. Walt with a great breakdown of all the rookies, as always, and I'm a huge fan of his team coverage, he is truly a treasure, but as a fan of mixed metaphors and superfluous language which some might ignorantly refer to as a "run-on sentence" I never really understood what that mean or where to put the comma after a quote in the middle of a sentence, but holy poo Walt, this is a gem, "While there's a long road left in front of them left to determine whether or not they'll have that same success on the blue line again, the beginning stretch of the journey has been thrown a wrench, and the story on defense has been the emergence of up-and-comers forced into becoming lineup regulars." , bravo, take a bow, sir!
    • How do I activate said Krispy Kreme deal? I'm stoned man you can't be playing with me about this...
    • When the broadcast showed the two benches side by side during the last TV timeout, it was pretty obvious the whole operation is a shitshow. If I was the owner, I would play that clip, with commentary, on the jumbotron at MSG as I fired the coach, GM, President, the whole lot. Bring in your AHL leadership team, wholesale, to finish out the season and start from scratch next year.  Can't fire all the players and fold the season. But, hopefully decapitating the zombie will light a fire under the body and burn out the cancer of the roster. (It makes sense if you don't think about it...) There are obviously issues on the roster. But, you can't have the entire coaching staff completely tuned out with 5 minutes left in a 2 goal game this early in the season. And you can't trust the people that hired them to hire the next staff. If you trust your AHL GM/Scouts, let them run the deadline firesale.   ...     Please don't let the owner read any of this. Because, this poo is hilarous!
