Eh, I've gotten used to it. Actually my kid sleeps through the night every night now, so it's not so bad. I hate hate hate hate hate hate getting woke up at 2, 3, 4 in the morning by a screaming baby cuz I take like 1-2 hrs to go back to sleep. There were many many nights of 3-4 hours of sleep I had to go on. Now that I can sleep all night, it's much better. The prob now is she is getting to the point she gets pissed if she doesn't get what she wants and pitches a tantrum. Wommin will be wimmin I guess :D

No fair!

I get one without the same equipment as I have! You suck!

What can I say? In the words of Dimbee, "We make boys. It's what we do." :)

cozy up with a family or parent that you like the way their kids are turning/turned out and soak up all you can from them.

cheers

That's good advice. I've actually got some great people on the wife's side that I'd love to glean some advice from (not to say that my parents were horrible, but it is what it is).

Congrats man, best to you and Jase.

Thanks, but you make it sound like we're married. Jase would never marry me.

Congrats Beaux!!!

Thats so exciting!!!!

And very cute that you are so excited:smilewinkgrin:

Thanks! I am excited -- it's nice to know the sex. It makes it that much more real, and now I've got 4.5 months to prepare myself.

Congrats bud! Good luck to you and wifey throughout the whole process, and don't let anything stress you out too bad!

Thanks man! I'm counting on you and all the other Huddle dads (new and old) for advice!

Gratz again man!

As the father of a boy you'll only have to worry about one dick.

Has the father of a girl I had to worry about all of them.

Your road will be easier.

That's hilarious! Thanks!

Congrats man! Boys are awesome. Word of advice, don't do the "baby talk". Talk to him as a normal person, even as before he can talk. It will affect their speech as toddlers and on into school.

I will try my best not to do the baby talk. My wife and I firmly believe that we can really help him out by speaking him to, even in the womb. I've been reading him stories about every night.

congrats Beaux. how far along is she? i ask cuz i am anxious to find out what mine is. I've read that the earliest you would be able to tell is 16 weeks, and most DRs wait until 18 weeks to determine.

I hear you, I was anxious, too. My wife is 19 weeks now. It took three different ultrasounds and more than two hours to figure out the sex -- the little guy just wasn't cooperating.

Get sleep while you can.

I will try my best to heed that advice, as I hear it from just about everybody. I feel I don't get enough sleep as it is. :(

Boys ROCK! Congratulations, Daddy!

Thanks!

That's what I'm not looking forward to. Once I'm up, it's very difficult for me to even get back to sleep.

Oh well, I'll take it all in stride. Just happy that the baby's healthy. Wouldn't hurt if he slept through the night, though. ;)

my daughter wakes up around 5 on occasion but she is still tiring even awake. I wouldn't change anything in the world but it's different when u can wake up late on the weekends and do whatever u want instead of waking up at 7 am and your whole day is taking care of your daughter. This is due to the fact that my wife works weekends and nights so my weekends are shot but Im not complaining really. Comes with the territory.

True day... my wife quit working when our were young and kept some other peoples kids... then she worked at a daycare for a while so she could take 'em with her.

Once they got old enough I told her ass to get back to work...

ya my wife works only 2 days a week as a nurse and makes more than people doing 9-5 jobs so im happy with that.

Your wife works weekends and nights? ;)

But yeah, you and your wife will have to work out "taking turns" to cover each other's sleep patterns...

Gone are the days of sleeping until 10:00 or 11:00 on a Saturday or Sunday, and in are the days of getting up at the crack of dawn and being spit up and peed on from time to time...

I equate it to my college days... hahahahahahaha

    • So the last guy who had the job got hired by his former team directly into a role he has no direct experience in?
    • Hard to pass up millions for a couple of days work per week for a coaching gig in the NFL that is 60-80 hours each week during the season and a more relaxed 50 hours a week during the off season. Yeah, I'd love to see him as our DC but hard to see him giving up the cushy job there if he gets it. And he's going to be a great commentator for the network.
    • Really, I think that is where negotiations come in. If you've got a QB getting you to 10 wins but statistically he's not a great performer, then you say look you can take $22 million or you can try it on the market. Because let's face it, out there, any leadership skills that we're seeing aren't going to be on the table, it's just going to be performance and that lands him in the QB2 market, which is much, much less lucrative (although any of us would love that money).  No one is saying that Bryce will be a $50 million QB, barring something short of a miraculous jump. I'm just saying that if we are winning somehow with him at the helm, then it would be fuging stupid to dive back into the rookie pool all over again. Let's say we do hit the 10 win mark, heck, let's call it 11 and a second round in the playoffs. I think we can all say that would be a really uplifting result and one that should be doable if we have good play. What do we do then? Here's what I would offer if I were Morgan and Tepper. $25 million a year for 3 years, each year with up to $10 million in incentives for touchdowns, wins, playoff depth, being under 10 interceptions, completing a full season, passing yardage milestones, taking less than 15 sacks. Look, Bryce isn't a Ferrari, he isn't a Corvette, or a mid-level BMW. He's probably a new Toyota Sienna that will definitely get you somewhere and bring the whole team along with it, no fuss but not a lot of pizazz.  And really, it's about the destination, not about what drove you there.
