Pippen is hard to gauge. Some people think Jordan made him and deserves all the credit. Others describe Pippen as arguably the greatest perimeter defender in NBA history and a guy who was willing to do whatever his team needed. Whether that was bringing the ball up the court, hitting 3s in transition, checking the other team's best player (so Jordan didnt have to), or finishing on the fast break. Pip in his prime could do it all. IMO, he's 1 of the best small forwards of all time. I dont think he had the leadership ability or toughness to carry a team by himself, but along with Jordan he was the perfect compliment in the triangle O.

Yeah, thats what I am saying. Everyone thinks Pippen was a role player that just lived in MJ's shadow.

Well here are some of Pippen's accomplishments

  • 6x NBA Champion (1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998)
  • 7x NBA All-Star (1990, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997)
  • 1× NBA All-Star Game MVP (1994)
  • 3× All-NBA First Team Selection (1994–1996)
  • 2× All-NBA Second Team Selection (1992, 1997)
  • 2× All-NBA Third Team Selection (1993, 1998)
  • 8× NBA All-Defensive First Team Selection (1992–1999)
  • 2× NBA All-Defensive Second Team Selection (1991, 2000)
  • Chicago Bulls #33 Retired
  • NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team

Yeah, Pippen was just a role player. HA!

Exactly

Just curious, how many of those accomplishments came after he and Jordan separated?

Surely a player of as great a caliber as you say Pippen is would have been able to give the Blazers a title (even if they were all in jail.)

After Jordan when to baseball for a minute Pippen and the bulls were very competitive in the EC Playoffs..... Lets see how competitive Cleveland is next year without James.... Can they drop off 40 wins because one guy left???? What would that mean...

The 06 Heat team was divided up very well...

Superstars- Shaq and Wade

Role Players- Haslem, Posey, Walker, Williams, Kapono

Vets- Payton, Mourning, Doleac

Young Guys- Barron, Anderson, Anderson, Simien, Wright

That is a very solid roster

See the difference between this.

And the 2010 Miami Heat?

Yeah, the 2006 Miami Heat actually had enough people to fill a roster. haha.

Right Now they have

Superstars- LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh

Role Players- Mario Chalmers, Joel Anthony

Young Guys- DeSean Butler, Dexter Pittman, Jarvis Varnado

Looking at this they would get raped in the Playoffs, especially against Orlando whose main strength is their secondary units.

Miami vs Orlando..

I'm already foaming at the mouth.

LOL, good thing the owner isn't bitter or anything....

One day, he will look back at that letter and feel a deep sense of embarassment. I understand he's dissapointed, but calling it a "cowardly betrayal" is going a little too far. Would it have been a "cowardly betrayal" if the Cavs had traded him?

It's also funny that the owner now says that he quit during the playoffs this year - if that's the case then why were you trying to re-sign him in the first place or at least try to do a sign and trade so that you can get something for him?

    • It will be really interesting to see how both sides handle this. I'm sure the team would love to get him signed to a 4 year deal based on his output so far and some potential factored in, i.e. something like a 4 year $30 million contract.  But I could see his agent telling him the best path is to take the one year offer, put up a big year next year and then really cash in. The team also has to keep in mind T-Mac's 2nd contract, which likely will happen after the 2027 season assuming he keeps improving as expected.  Even if we could get him on a budget 4 year deal for what he could become, the problem then becomes when he wants to re-negotiate in 2 years during the same summer we will extend T-Mac, and you don't want to spend that much on WRs in one offseason, just see the Bengals this last year. Taking everything into consideration, I'm thinking the 1 year deal and then getting him to sign a 4-5 year deal after hopefully say a 800ish yard season next year might be best for our cap situation and separate his and T-Mac's negotiation periods.
    • And yet jax made it no further than we did, and its very possible the Pats don't either. I think it speaks more to the overall down year for the nfl as far as having great/dominant teams, every team this year has fatal flaws that can be exploited
    • Ehhh I agree the nfc is stronger this year but their really werent any truly dominant teams this year everyone is flawed, I think the narrative for the NFL this year will to try ahd force a Josh Allen SB win
