Jon Beason NFL chat transcript...

Beason has said before he's more comfortable against outside runners than inside guys. That's the biggest reason he picked Stewart. Williams will squirm for the extra yards while Stewart just bowls guys over.

Was he also saying that Stewart is the best RB in the NFL too?

why, because people's feelings on the huddle forums might get hurt?

who do you think has the opinion with more weight? the fans, or some guy who has played with and against (practiced) on a regular basis?

it's not a knock against deangelo to say that someone is better than him.

No, because a comment like that taken in the wrong context might create a rift between him and DeAngelo and since Beason and DeAngelo are two of the veteran leaders on this team now, you want to avoid those sorts of things.

To draw a comparison, just the other day I thought Beason did an excellent job of navigating the Clausen/Moore question he was asked on ESPN. He praised them both without implying one of them was inferior. He said Moore deserved the starting job because he earned it, not because he was a more complete quarterback than Clausen.

The good news is that both Beason and DeAngelo are such standup guys I doubt this kind of a comment would create a problem between them.

What is a normal day in the life of an NFL linebacker?

A normal day in the offseason would be waking up at 5 am, working out by 6. Then I start my diet, which consists of nine meals a day. Take a nap to recover, then I work out again at 7.

I knew there was a reason I liked him! :P

which is exactly why beason should (and did) feel free to say it.

williams isn't some early first round projected rookie who fell half way thru the second round and needs his ego stroked in order to feel better about his situation.

he's a vet in the league. he knows his strengths and weakness. if someone states the obvious, it shouldn't be a big deal.

The question was who was harder to tackle - and he answered, JStew. It could simply mean that DWill isn't the typical runner to try even get to to tackle. DWill has a different style than JStew. It didn't come across as saying one was better than the other - just who is harder to tackle. Simple question. Not who is a better back.

what really helps your case is that Beason has stated he has a lot more trouble with power backs than the outside guys.
