Overlooked Offense?

Is it me, or does it seem not too many people is noticing that we can do some damage on offense this year? Our running game is monstrous even more than the past 2 years IMO. Stew healthy and D.Will back healthy and is now going into their 3rd season together. Our O-line still will dominate

But to me the key this year will be play calling. I think our coaching staff see that we can do a lot this year with a QB that can sling it. People question how weapons in the passing game, but to me as long as Matt spread it around to multiple people we're going to be a dangerous offense

Our O is the first thing I'm looking forward to seeing

One thing i noticed about Matt Moore that distinguishes him from Delhomme (aside from turnovers), is that he spreads the ball around. Delhomme had gotten to the point where he looked at one spot, and if it wasn't there he seemed to shut down. Moore seems more comfortable if his first read isn't there

Count me in as one of those that will be shocked if we are over .500. Matt Moore is largely unproven, and if he is the starter it won't take long for other teams to figure him out. He's still better than Delhomme after the injury though. Also, not having a proven second receiver is going to hurt if somebody doesn't step up. We will be turned into a one dimensional team real quick and then we won't even be able to run the ball effectively.

Don't even get me started on the defense.

The offense is overlooked and will remain so because of one thing. The media wants to believe so badly that Clausen should be the starter, and until that announcement is made, you will never hear the words "Panthers" and "contenders/playoffs/super bowl" in the same sentence. Period. Sad but true. Nobody cares that our RBs both went over 1,000 because, the way most "analysts" see it, the numbers of 1 individual player means more than what a team puts up.

Basically, like 2003 and every year since 1995, really, its "us against the world". Nobody is going to say we're going to be good, and if they do, it will be an obscene "Carolina is going to the Super Bowl! Mark it down!" statement. That way, if we do go, they can say it was a good call, and when we don't go, it will give them more of an excuse to stay away from covering the team on a national stage.

Screw the media and the "analysts". Screw trying to get "respect" from them. The only thing we can do is stay as optimistic as possible while remaining realistic. One day, our team will shine. And on that day, the Steelers, Saints, Patriots, and Colts fans will be in our position.

Panthers will never get credit for having a decent offense. Moore wasn't drafted, so he has no value, according to the media.

Matt Ryan, despite being extremely average, is billed as an "elite" qb. So everyone talks about how amazing the Falcons offense is.

No one sees the potential that we see. If Moore has a great year though, media hounds will be coming out of the woodwork claiming that they've always known that Moore was a good qb.

The ground game needs to start off solid, unlike in the past 2 seasons where it took 5-6 games for us to hit our stride. some of that can be attributed to injuries and play calling, but the running game will need to pickup where it left off in order for Moore to have a chance this season.

If the running game isnt dominate to open up passing lanes, then Moore could struggle and lead to Clausen getting a chance to play. That would be unfair to moore, but it could be the reality of the situation. you dont invest a 2nd round pick in a QB to let him site the bench.

    • Another layer to that is Ive seen Seattle has been in the market for CB help this off-season.   Michael had a higher PFF grade than Horn who got 15 games this season. He wants to be here too, that's a huge bonus for any 5 win team that had awful pass rush.  The 7th rounder Michael Barrett didn't last long on Seattle, he was cut before the season I think and ended up on browns PS. He's already been on 5.......5 teams within one year.......
    • You have gave the board some recent gold via posting. Heres my poor attempt at the truthful play-by-play of the time during post- I pulled out the old laptop to do my shitposting and check on websites. Open the huddle and see this new thread. Open thread and read CRAs post, {inner thinking, oooOOooo this is my lane and I got this}. Make sure not to scroll even to the 2nd post. 23% of current neurons still firing start up and two names appear- Captain and Josh....... about another 43 seconds past "O GOD" it's July 4th weekend and I got medicine to pick up. (If the laptop didn't give away my aging, the meds should...) I need to split, think long panther careers and the hint-  Ryan Kalil was a late 2nd and Pro bowls(even all-pros too) he's got to be OLman and Mikie Minter is among the all-time Panthers career leaders. Drop my post. Scramble to get keys, wallet, and phone. Check my phone- its 17% battery.....fug I now have to raw dog the pickup line and put the phone on charge.... Flip flops, sweat ringed filled hat, and shades acquired. Get in my pos rav4 and think about not running the A/C. Pull out the drive way and reach the 1st stop light, A/C is wide open. I check my shirt to see if there's any new stains on my house shirt, bush off the Bojangles salt that I see.... Neurons re-fire and focus on the comments CRA made that no one would get this....... Dang IT, that means it isn't Ryan Kalil or Mike Minter! CVS is close, but I know its impossible I get back withing 10 minutes to change my post and my phone is on the charger. {Think you monkey, at one point you were a draft nerd}. Reach the CVS line, by some grace its not 5 cars deep during 5 o'clock traffic hell. Im second in line after the car in front of me both turn in, they have to go back and forth to line up while Im a pro for that geometry. Neurons finally reach peak performance as Ive re-thought draft classes. Think obscure and unknown 7th rounders with long careers. Some Sunday/Monday night member berry fell out of my Melon, Will montgomery during the players intros for washington. I thought he out of the league and was shocked to see him still playing around the 2015 years. I do a goggle background check and that refreshed memory. Pick up the meds and enjoy the sweet smelling cool CVS air. Driving back and check in on one of the local bums at the big stop light, wow he's got a new fancy rug. Think about all the old food I got and need to start giving it away and rethink it. Reach home and post a follow up and I know Minter is wrong too, I check the draft history and see Robert Mcclain. Too late, but that would have been my guess....open CRAs link and get "upset" at the DBs name.
    • THANKS my guy! Keeping up with this threads theme, if I view a thread and there's only 20 posts and some time passes. If I see there's one new post and read the name; @Dave Gettleman's Shortsis among the chosen few that I will reopen that thread just to see what you posted.    Thanks again, plus not just a scout, thats scotty mccloughans son?!?!? If not for the deep claws of booze, scotty is among the best talent finders this league has recently had. Last I heard he ran a consulting business. Caden could be one of those who's on a early path to being a GM in the future. I was a big fan of his dad, dam shame about booze demon ruining his career.
