I am the Seattle GM.  I have seen what Darnold does when he is not protected and what he can do when he has a pocket.  Darnold is 27.  I build the best OL in the NFL.  I bring in some WRs.  I do not put him on the field with substandard protection or weaponry.  You could have a QB for the next 8-10 years if you stack the deck.

It's been a quiet 24 hours for the Cowboys and that's apparently because, they don't like spending money in free agency.

The Cowboys have not signed a free agent over $6M per year in free agency since Greg Hardy in 2015.

The salary cap has increased by $135,920,00 million since then.

“you gotta build through the draft, this ain’t madden, losing teams sign free agents”

Who is most likely going to fold like a paper cup the minute the pressure is on haha. I am pulling for him but if I’m a betting man unfortunately the NFLs not patient enough to build the best oline in the NFL. I think he needed another situation close to Minnesota’s level….there’s a lot of talent on that offense

I don't get why Greenlaw went for that cheap. I would much rather have Greenlaw than Wharton who we paid more for. We still need competent linebackers.

The Wharton signing was the only head scratcher for me yesterday, after Horn.  If you put Wharton and Brown together, however, you fill 2 needs for less money that Milton.  Milton was weaker vs the run than Wharton, but I thought Wharton was a bit pricey.  You don't take a guy who missed half his games on rookie deal and make him the highest paid player in the league at CB--I would have offered incentives, but not guaranteed money--and maybe they did but could not get it done without giving in.  My favorite signing?  Bobby Brown--playing Tuttle at NT last year made me question his coaching ability.  Brown is a one-trick pony, but he does that trick very well.  I think we are all going to love Moehrig at SS.  The Mike Jackson deal was a relief.  But pay more attention to the  Pat Jones (Edge) addition.  A two year deal for $10m per season, Jones was a rotational player and had 6.5 sacks and 9 tackles for loss and 12 QB hits--as a part time player.  He is 26 and has a quick take off--in Panther history, there is a tradition of edge rushers developing late in their rookie deals. Charles Johnson, for example.  Greg Hardy.  I think it is possible that Jones is breaking out.  If we get him for 10m per season for 2 years, that is great.

The Texans are trading for Philadelphia Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson in exchange for left guard Kenyon Green, sources tell ESPN.

The deal also includes a pick swap with the Eagles getting a 2026 fifth-round pick and the Texans getting a 2026 sixth-rounder. Gardner-Johnson is a known ball hawk, who had six interceptions in 2024 and 2022 for the Eagles in separate stints. The Texans lost their starting safety Eric Murray to the Jacksonville Jaguars on a three-year, $22.5 million deal in free agency, so they'll use Gardner-Johnson to fill that void.

No, I am with you--which is why I was using past tense.  Now that you have Darnold, if you want to keep your job....  I think he went to Seattle to end his career--congrats for getting a payday, but Minnesota has a knack for making mediocre QBs look good.  If Seattle think Darnold is going to make plays when things break down, it will be a long season.

Shedeur Sanders is awesome with a clean pocket, but when he gets pressure (like other QBs) it usually does not end well. I think Darnold had clean pockets at USC, and in NY, it was a different world. Sanders will need to be protected as well.  I think I would evaluate QBs based on how they play under pressure.  Josh Allen was in Wyoming and did not have a lot of protection and weaponry.  They said he had accuracy issues, comparing him  to QBs who routinely had 4 seconds.

CJ Stroud got sacked 58 times last season, which was the second-most in the NFL, and the Texans have now traded away Green and Tunsil, who were arguably their two best linemen. At the rate things are going, Stroud might get sacked 100 times in 2025.

With the Eagles acquiring Green, that likely means Mekhi Becton won't be returning to Philadelphia.

The 49ers 2025 roster is going to look a lot different than it did in 2024. Not only have the 49ers already lost six players in free agency, but Kyle Juszczyk and Javon Hargrave are expected to be cut before the new league begins on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET.

Here's a look at the list of players that definitely won't be returning to San Francisco this year:

WR Deebo Samuel: Traded to WSH
LB Dre Greenlaw: Signs with Broncos
S Talanoa Hufanga: Signs with Broncos
CB Charvarius Ward: Signs with Colts
G Aaron Banks: Signs with Packers
OT Jaylon Moore: Signs with Chiefs
RB Elijah Mitchell: Signs with Chiefs
FB Kyle Juszczyk: Expected to be released
DT Javon Hargrave: Expected to be released
DT Maliek Collins: Expected to be released

Former Vikings QB Daniel Jones is finalizing a one-year, $14 million deal with the Indianapolis Colts, per sources. Jones had a chance to return to Minnesota, but now becomes the challenger to the Colts’ former first-round pick Anthony Richardson.

I think Jones will ball out.

I can see how it was a tough decision for him, but with JJ coming off of an injury and after what Kevin O'Connell did for Darnold last year, I think I would have had to go back to the Vikings.

Colts have a run game and a couple of weapons though, so who knows.

    • I can always count on yout to put things so delicately lol. I'm still not sold on the fact that Tepper will make them keep him if they don't see him as a long term answer.
    • holy poo... this thread inspired me to keep trying to guess passwords to various alts I've created over the years and I finally got in! I pretty much accepted my fate as a lurker for the last several months because I could not remember my password. I didn't realize that new users couldn't join either, that explains things. I have been around for years under several different monikers, through the good and bad. I too always find myself coming back here even with all of the new social media options for Panther fan engagement. It's simply nostalgic.   I do get extremely annoyed with the same 5-10 posters shitting on Bryce and complaining about everything. It's unfortunate that half of them are mods and that nobody new can join because now I pretty much just come on here and see Bryce / Panther slander. There is barely any positivity to be had. We all watch this team and hang on this forum for entertainment purposes only. We have no control or say in anything. I used to be such a crazy ass fan that would argue with strangers about Cam newton on the internet and at games. Now, as a father of 3, a business owner and someone with way gnarlier life problems - I like to watch football and talk about football as an escape. Not to bitch more. I really like the direction of the team and will root anyone in a Panthers jersey. I live down the street from the Rams practice facility, Matthew Stafford is currently coaching his daughters flag football team in the same program I coach my sons. I have two highly ranked Rams staff members sons on my team. The way we beat them and had them on the ropes in the playoffs has me feeling amazing, and you would think we have the next great thing in Bryce with the way they all speak of him. I'm gonna ride that high and be a delusional fan, I hope that huddle can stick around or get fixed and perhaps I will get back to posting more now that I can log in again. I will do my best to not get banned. Keep Pounding!
    • Well, if they know Tepper wants to keep Bryce there is an an implied safety net there in case he fails. A possibility that he will be empathetic and •maybe• not fire them.  If they go against that and bring in someone else and that fails they are in a much worse spot.  IMO.  And another factor may be that after all those years of instability and musical chairs pre Bryce there will likely be a feeling of security in knowing what they have.   Kind of like settling just to keep from going through the process all over again.     IOW I think he really needs to fug up bad to lose his job and change our course.
