I think it is more surprising that Cantwell was the backup even for a day. Didn't we all expect the team to start grooming Clausen for the future, whether that be as a starter or backing up Moore?

Clasuen has a nice thrown ball, but he's still hesitating right now...at least from what I saw today.

see, everyone was getting all worked up during the offseason. you have to wait people. things don't happen in the offseason, they happen in training camp and preseason.

there is still chance clausen could be starting by week 1. we won't know of course, until we wait and see what training camp and preseason brings.

this is all because of Weis. he had 1) a pick problem, and 2) a dancing problem his second year at ND. Weis got him into the habit of protecting the football to the point where he sometimes gets too conservative. it showed last year with only 4 pics all season compared to like 20 his second year. bad for practice, but there is something to be said about being extra careful with the football until your timing is right.

My guess is that Clausen will start the 2010 season as the Panthers #2 QB unless he totally bombs out in training camp and preseason.Something i can't see happening.

I am thinking they are just giving Clausen and Cantwell both reps with the 1st team just to try them out and experiment a little.

It is to a lot of people that took the recent articles praising Cantwell for a little more than what they were.

I'm guessing during contract negotiations that Clausen was promised the 2nd team cause that's the only way I see him beating out Hunter "make you my bitch" Cantwell.
