Armanti and the Wildcat

I keep hearing this mentioned every so often and I just was curious to know how many of you think that this will actually be in our playbook this year (for Armanti specifically). Although I do think its likely we may have at least a wildcat formation in the playbooks, I just dont see AE running it just yet. I think the coaches are going to back off that and let him learn how to play receiver for now, at least a year I would think. Let him study and watch a little. Once he has a decent handle on "ballin like 89" then hook him up with that wildcat and see what happens.

Man, on a side note its incredible that because of his potential I am already feeling impatient for AE to become a star. I think I was impatient actually the day we drafted him. WTF Armanti catch for 200, run for 200, and throw for 200 at the draft already!!! WHAT'S TAKING SO LONG?!?!?!

Gonna be a great year, fellas, FUGGIN GREAT YEAR! . . . no matter what

I guess the next question is who would run the wildcat for us? If not Armanti for now, do we even have any business considering that formation?

Well, we saw Williams run it a few times last year without success. Teams knew that he was really only a threat to run out of that formation.

I think I'd rather see Edwards used in some screens and reverses before a Wildcat.

I think I'll do myself a lot of good by just hoping that he does well on ST's this year while he adapts to the new position. I remember someone saying that he had a minor fumbling issue at App, but nothing serious. I also remember someone else saying that was bullshiznacky so Idk.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I don't think he'll contribute much to special teams, either. He just doesn't have much experience at all as a returner. I'd be thrilled if he could pick it up quickly, but right now I'm thinking someone like Witherspoon will be our punt returner. I'd like to see Goodson in that role if he could hold on to the ball.

it keeps the defense honest

we arent the saints or the colts, so we could put ae and dw under center once or twice to throw them off

Yep because it forces the other team to put a package on the field that can beat it. If they dont have that package then we would go back to it again and again.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
