Yep, if only you had athletic ability, you could do a job that requires athletic ability. Your logic is sound.

I jog by the Panthers practice fields hoping they call me in to play....when they don't I just continue on to bojangles

I've been following all of the tweets, and I don't recall anyone saying Edwards was the slowest of the receivers. I'm following Reed, too, and don't remember that. Maybe I'm wrong.

He did say that Armanti appeared to be the slowest so I looked up Guy's 40 time and it wasnt very impressive at all. And yeah his logic is pretty impressive

I love it ....Beaux ur pretty funny dude sounds like a damn child.....if it was so easy why are there only a handfull of players who excel at it that's all I'm wondering..??

What?? You said you could return a punt if you had the athletic ability and all Beaux said was that returning a punt requires athletic ability.

Good call. Win-win-win.

It was actually Cat'sGrowl89 that said that. trucpfan was agreeing with us.

What he intended to say was "Beaux, you're pretty funny. Dude (Cat'sGrowl89)sounds like a damn child." :)

:cheers2:

no one can argue a 4.4 but edwards aint fast like chris johnson but he is more quick like bruce lee.

it's only been 5 days that he's had 250lb titans running full speed at him while trying to catch a punt.

think i'll give it a few more days to let things click for him.

My bad I meant the dude who said it Catgrowl sounds crazy to me. Not Beaux he is hilarious with that analogy. Quick clarification don't attack me I don't have enough rep power (yet).....I'm on my evo that's why it seems like I just spew out words but I enjoy all post for the last 3 years so I figured I might as well get dirty. Who's wit me???

AE is no where near as fast as Smith is/was either.

I believe it was Gantt who tweeted the the other day that Edwards was easily the slowest person of all the returners battling for the job.

(Then again, it must've been someone else who said it, no way Gantt would do that to his boy)

Learning to catch, and run with a punt, isn't a hard thing to do.

If I had the athletic ability, I could go out there myself and try for the job.

So the question begs, what's keeping Edwards?

Sounds like we've got a tad too many App State fans on the board..

I didn't see Gantt say anything about Edwards being slow, or anyone else saying that either... Edwards ran a 4.43 at his Pro Day also, and watching him on the field against a D1 team like Michigan, he didn't appear to be lacking any speed then either...

Now applying that athletic ability to 2 new positions is the problem.

As it has been said a million times, give him time. All I've heard is that his negatives thus far have been dropping punts, his positives have been highlight-type catches and good cuts/speed out of breaks.

Cat'sGrowl89 is right -- Darin Gantt did say Edwards looked to be the slowest as a returner.

The Panthers worked on kickoff returns, and they've got more fast options than in years. Brian Witherspoon, Dexter Jackson, Trent Guy and Armanti Edwards took the reps Sunday, and all have impressive burst. Put it this way, Edwards (who is no turtle) appears to be the slowest of the four.

Of course, the point he's making is that Edwards is fast, and for him to be the slowest means we've got plenty of speedy guys. Besides, like Baschski said, speed isn't everything in the return game.

For all these people saying its unheard of to have a 2nd or 3rd rounder on the practice squad dont realize that weve have Dexter Jackson on our PS. He was drafted by the Bucs in the 2nd round and he really has no chance of making the active roster for us this year.

    • I was watching the game last night (actually 330am) and they brought up that Aiden Fisher calls out the plays the other team is running.  This of course reminded me of Luke.  I haven't followed Indiana football at all but I wonder that the Huddle thinks of him as a future Panther Linebacker Aiden Fisher's pro prospects are promising, with a strong track record of performance and potential for success in the NFL. His ability to read the game and make plays with precision, combined with his leadership and physicality, make him a valuable asset to any defense. Fisher's development at Indiana and his selection as a first-team All-Big Ten linebacker in 2024 further solidify his status as a top prospect for the 2026 NFL Draft   Thoughts?
    • There is no doubt that winning on the field is the ultimate goal.  But not far behind that is winning off the field / in the board room / at the bank. Beane has been meticulous in betting on Josh Allen being able to put on the cape and taking a band of misfits to the playoffs every year.  That drives tickets, merch, concessions, TV shares, etc.  Which all put money into the owner's pockets.  The coach only controls what's on the field, and even then, it's mostly out of his hands minus time management as he doesn't throw, catch, run or kick for those 60 minutes.  My guess is Beane has made that owner a poo ton of money through contracts (or lack there of), and staying the course financially when it's easy to overspend to get over the hump.  That's why he's still there and McDermott isn't.  My guess is they will hire a non-splash candidate that commands middle of the pack money for a head coach, and Beane will once again point out to ownership how he saved them $4-$6M with this hire, and they still have Superman on their team.  New England has a first place schedule next year, and that's likely good for 2 additional losses, which would give them the same record as the Bills had this year. I knew McDermott was gone if they didn't reach the Superbowl.
    • I heard it was him showing up in NE for his ring of honor ceremony and talking about how great the organization was and the Titans ownership felt a certain way about that. They also fired/mutually parted ways with Mike Mularky after he got them to the playoffs. So making the playoffs as the Titans coach is the kiss of death. They've ran off the last 2 to achieve that lofty goal.
