They really need to address 'holdouts' in the new CBA.

Awesomeness!!

I'm so tired of these guys holding out of camp to get a few more mills. I understand getting what you think you've earned, but you should at least wait a few years before holding out again. Darrelle Revis did this like 2 years ago. Seriously dude, honor your god damn contract. I think the NFL needs to do what the NBA does and just guarentee a big chunk of the contracts in the first place so guys aren't holding out to get guarenteed money. The Teams are just as wrong as the players.

I think holdouts are lame, but I completely understand it. Take a look at Dumervil.. just got injured and may be out for a season. You just never know when that can happen and then that fast you're out of a job. Get what you can while you can.

I'll support players who hold out when they start giving back money they don't earn due to poor performance or injury. Until then they should play out their contract or go get a job doing something that pays better.

Revis is honoring his contract.

The contracts do not say "Thou shalt play football". They say "If you decide to participate in professional football, you agree to play only for Team X". Any other way and players would never be able to retire unless their contract was up etc.

exactly holdouts i have no problem with, kpowers said look at elvis he just got paid and got hurt the other day.on the other side of that is tdavis he didnt get paid and might not bc he is hurt.the rookies need a pay scale, and if a team will cut you at any time why not hold out until you get your money.

I saw that deal and was like "Great job, St. Louis... Way to screw it up for everyone else..."

At this rate, there really WON'T be any football next year... Spending is out of control...

it's taking all the value of out the #1 overall pick when you have to pay so much for it. I just don't see how you can spend that much on a QB with a glass arm who has never played a down in the NFL. It's really no surprise why the Rams are bad year after year.

i personally think players who hold out should be suspended. their contract may not say certain things or whatever... but why the hell are guys playing in the NFL??? i always thought it was because of the game... the money will come, but getting that super bowl ring may never happen if you're spending all your time at home on the couch watching re-runs of the Young & the Restless, while you're hoping you'll get a better contract.

i thought Chris Johnson made the right moves by holding out during Spring OTA's and such... while not losing any valuable time with his teammates in training camp. Revis is just dumb. he had one year that was outstanding... then sits out of camp till a new contract is drawn up, while he's missing all that valuable time with his teammates... which loses continuity within the defense, which could cause their defense to suck this year. i mean, the littlest things can change the outcome down the road.

and as far as rookies are concerned. the most a rookie should earn in his first year in the NFL is 5 million guaranteed, plus incentives. and if he proves himself to be worth more than that, you adjust the contract as you go. the NFL is dumb with their money. just like how wall-street can be idiotic with their money sometimes.

    • I think the Bevell hire has more to do with adding actual veteran head coaching experience to the staff than anything else. But I do wholeheartedly agree that the obsession in general with Seattle needs to come to an end. I mean we plucked the one guy there to be our GM who turned out to be our worst GM in franchise history in just a few short years and that's really saying something given our history there. Clearly trying to mimick Seattle in any way has not been productive. As far as Idzik many of us have asked the same question but at this point in time it doesn't really matter anymore because Canales is either going to lead this franchise to a winning record or he will be shown the door.
    • Why wasn't here even considered? Better record and save % than any of t he 3 goalies on the US squad.
    • That’s why Bevell is a good move. Idzik might not be chopped liver, he is just inexperienced and even less ready to be the play caller than Canales. I still say the playbook is limited which is a hinderance to calling plays, I would imagine.    Anyway Beavis lol… no Bevell, got to consecutive SBs as an OC and won one with 48 points or something. Should have won the second one. And had several more good years there.    They were the team we had to learn how to beat it took us til the third year I think before we could go into Seattle and successfully compete.   That is glass half full thinking, yep, but that is head and shoulders over what we have had here for a while. Certainly now.     In addition.. It was Canales’ boss. He knew more then , I would bet he knows more now. I can’t look at this as anything but a potential positive thing.  Hell he might be the guy that can look at Dave and say what the fug are you doing? And Dave will listen. I think I can hope for that.  Maybe not.
