the guy was a overhyped punk in HighSchool, an over hyped punk in College. He shows up at ND talking a bunch of poo and never came close to living up to the hype.

He is a wasted draft pick by the Panthers.

You know the saying..once a punk always a punk.

Geez, tell us how you really feel.....

I've been watching ND football for years, I watched all of Clausen's game, they didn't lose because of that kid.

He went three years without losing a game in High School...

As an individual he lived up to most of the hype. His Junior season was gross it was so good, and he did a bunch of it while battling injuries. His touchdown to interception ratio was one of the best in the country.

How can you say this when the season hasn't even started? Blind hate much?

Now who do you think you are to go flinging around facts and common sense in this?

TeH Clauzzen iz the suckzorrrz!!!

You know the saying..once a punk always a punk.

"This always comes up," Clausen said Friday when asked to explain the Hummer decision. "There were three other families with us. I wanted everyone to be together. It was a special day for me. So we decided to get a limo - one big enough to fit everybody - instead of taking four separate cars. We just jumped into it and took off."

Clausen's high school coach, for one, was surprised by the Hollywood style of the commitment. "I thought it was a little over the top," Redell said.

Said brother Rick Clausen: "Hindsight is 20-20, but we wouldn't do the Hummer again. We never anticipated that sort of backlash. It wasn't some premeditated 'Let's show everybody up by going in a limo' sort of thing. But it snowballed."

Largely because of the Hummer incident, Wichard said, Clausen has become "the most mis-perceived person I've ever been around in the sports world."

That's his agent talking, of course, but Clausen did impress his teammates with the work ethic and talent he brought with him to Notre Dame.

"I didn't care if he announced his commitment on top of an elephant and rode it around campus," said Golden Tate, Clausen's favorite receiver for much of his time at Notre Dame and now a rookie with the Seattle Seahawks. "The media and the fans passed judgment on him because of the Hummer, but I didn't have a problem with it as long as he worked hard and we tried to help each other get better. That's exactly what he did for three years. People don't understand how great a leader he was for our team."

---------

Wichard, Clausen's agent, had called a car service and asked for an SUV to pick Wichard up in February at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis. Clausen was there, too. Wichard offered to give him a ride back to his hotel once the car arrived.

The car service didn't have an SUV available, however. So it sent a limo.

"And it was a monster," Wichard said with a laugh. "Jimmy takes one look at it and says, 'I'm outta here.' He literally wouldn't get in the car. He got a ride with someone else. It's like he gets hives when he sees stretch limos now."

Head down. Fight the "misperceptions." Learn the offense. This is Clausen's current game plan.

As has already been said there are plenty of rookie quarterbacks that turn into superstars in the NFL. The notion that clipboard experience is better than real game experience is simply not true. It may be better for the team, or it may not be there have been examples of each.

Moore deserves to start season, IMO, that's what he has earned. But to repeat what I said earlier, Jimmy Clausen playing in 2010 does not necessarily mean the Panthers suck, it just means that Moore sucked. No use for some to question the loyalty of fans that are simply excited for this kid.

Folks who think that game experience is all that matters never played a sport at a significant level. Game time is when you demonstrate what you have learned in practice. Practice and watching film, etc are where you actually learn to play.

Guys like Rodgers, Brady, Romo and many others didn't need to play in a number of games their rookie year in order to learn how to play. Romo for example outside of spot duty in preseason games came in and played well right away? Why? Because he learned how to play in practice every day. Brady had 3 attempts his rookie year. His second year he starts 14 games and has a completion rate of 64% and a quarterback rating of 86. Happened to win the Superbowl and make the Probowl.

Why? Practice not game experience.

And if you really think that if Moore sucks then the Panthers won't, you haven't been paying attention. Jake sucked last year, did the Panthers? In fact tell me of any quarterback who sucked last year, was replaced for perfomance reasons and at the time the team had a winnng record. Yeah there aren't any. And if you think that Moore will be replaced if he has one or two bad game, you are in fantasy land.

You do keep saying the same thing over again. It was naive the first time and doesn't get any better in the retelling.

I was going to respond to this by quoting my original post, but it obviously didn't sink in. So to rephrase, there have been *plenty* of examples of rookies starting in the NFL and both them and their teams being more successful as a result. You simply can't tell me that the Lions would have won more games last year with Culpepper (a highly experienced veteran) starting. They tried that and they still sucked. Ryan and Sanchez are other examples. Also, the argument that "folks who think that game experience is all that matters never played a sport at a significant level" is also fairly disconnected from reality. Once again, Matthew Stafford will be 10x the quarterback this year because he wasn't holding a clipboard last year. My "significant" experience was limited to a few state titles in high school football, but I guess I learned enough to know that live experience is far and away the best preparation a player can get. You can have Hunter Cantwell, I'll take Mark Sanchez any day of the week.

As far as Moore goes, this notion that this team's success is completely on his shoulders is sounding more ridiculous every day. You were probably one of those people that was shocked when the Panthers drafted a quarterback with their first pick in the draft.

This is the typical response from those who have chosen to hate the kid. Your opinion of him as a player stems from the fact that he was arrogant and flamboyant coming out of high school. People cannot get past that and see that he has grown up....and judge him by his play on the field.

Hate to break it to you, but there are more arrogant pricks in the NFL than good stand-up guys.

How can you call someone a wasted draft pick when he hasn't started a game yet. Wait for a year or two before you call him a wasted draft pick. But then you sound like a biased Clausen hater that you're saying any negative about him & not even one positive thing.

And what you mean he talk bunched of poo?? Maybe he is just hyper & somewhat competitior? This happend to some of the best QBs. All I care is if he does the job like he should for the Panthers, I will stand by him like any fans should do when it come to rooting for their team. If he does show he is better than Moore & help the team wins, are you still going to bash him & call him a punk? :toetap05:
