Fox talks about starters, QB rotation and guys sitting out vs. Ravens

Today was basically a walkthrough practice, so there wasn’t much to observe from practice. But here’s some news.

Coach John Fox said the starters will play about one quarter tomorrow night against Baltimore before giving way to the backups.

Matt Moore will start, but he wouldn’t discuss his quarterback rotation. However, he did say he hopes to get Hunter Cantwell, Jimmy Clausen and Tony Pike into the game. I suspect Cantwell will get in first followed by Clausen. I wouldn’t be surprised if Pike doesn’t play. The second-team rotation may flip-flop in the second preseason game with Clausen getting in before Cantwell.

Eleven players will not make the flight to Baltimore including WRs Steve Smith, Trent Guy and Charly Martin, RB Jonathan Stewart and Mike Goodson, OTs Jeff Otah and Garry Williams, LBs Thomas Davis and Jordan Senn, CB Chris Gamble and S Aaron Francisco.

    • Watching games this year again and Bryce missed a wide open XL many times and some of them were in the endzone. I get the kid has mental lapses and hasn't broke out yet, but this is year three on a rookie deal! Cutting bait now is too early. If he hasn't gained anymore trust from his QB, posted any highlights, little production, or outright gets beat out then we can talk movement.
    • Samesies   I truly may just cash completely out of Panther football if we give him a long term deal that isnt necessary.  I have watched NFL for 50 years now and I can without a shadow of a doubt say you cannot win consistently with BY.  Way too many limitations to deal with.   I may come back around in 3 years when the inevitable happens and all parties are either cut and/or fired.  Giving him a deal before this season so you hopefully can get him cheaper in case he "blows up" or if you truly believe that he will has to be the most moronic decision a gm can make when the evidence is laid before you with different players
    • This is the one! I was at that game and all KB had to do was lay down on the corner after the pick or make an obvious tag while he was down. He had already ran a lazy route. Then if Cam would've just walked to the sideline like most elite QBs instead of trying to make the tackle.  A lot of people bring up the TJ Watt hit, but he just reaggravated a bunch of scar tissue from that play. And every Cam hater said that the running did him in and it was a dive tackle attempt on an interception that initially began the shoulder deterioration. He still went to New England later and would've got them in the playoffs had their A team not sat out the covid year. We quit on him too early. But hey how good was Teddy? Am I right?
