Anti-virus and Anti-spyware (help needed)

I just got on campus and they require both anti-virus and anti-spyware applications that work. My free trial to McAfee expired, so I need to find one in the next 48 hours or my computer will be quarantined from campus.

Do any of you know of free applications for both that I can download?

I got an email from my ISP the other day...I can get McAfee suite for free...worth it vs. using AVG/Adaware/Spybot?

avast is simple, easy to use, i've never had problems with virus's with it and it updates automatically. Plus it's free, so, that's the icing on the cake.

i've never paid for McAfee but if you're not going to buy it i suggest uninstalling it off your hard drive, because all it's going to do is make your computer take 5 minutes to start up even if the program isn't running

I work in IT and I use Malware all the time. Spybot Search and Destroy are good ones. I would stay away from the Microsoft ones

Just downloaded it. Scanning now. Runs fast though. Does it have anti-spyware also or just anti-virus?

Ive been using free ones for quite some time, and the best usually changes from year to year. I agree with what others have said, Microsoft has the best one going right now... Doesnt slow my system down at all either.
