Did We Improve From Last Week Or Not?

Some players did better. Gross stepped it up, and that was an improvement. But I was never really worried about that to begin with.

Unfortunately, some of his contemporaries inherited his problem with some stupid penalties.

Was it 3 false starts in a row on a 4th down punt attempt?

The defense showed once again that they have the ability to create pressure. Nick Hayden's sack was a pleasent surprise. Everette Brown was lights out. Beason was all over the field and playing out of his skull--but we wouldn't expect less.

I look at Preseason as individual tryouts Pugh's and Defensive Moore showed me something. Think both should make the team. WR's none impressed think Zod nailed it and we will be getting a veteran before the regular season with what we have now we wont get far. We also need a backup Center. Fix these problems and we will be fine. Running game is great and we also havent seen Moore and Clausen with Smitty this year. Defense is set.

we've been playing against some blitz happy 3-4 teams and it's shown. Adding in that we don't really prepare too much for these teams it's making passing the ball pretty hard.

The Titans should be a lot better hopefully. The O-line will be mano-a-mano instead of having to worry about scheme.

The D is really impressive right now. The Jets aren't a powerhouse but 9 points is 9 points.

Pugh looked awesome.

Forgot about the center issue.

That's what I think could really change the face of this offense. I was optimistic about Moore after seeing how he was able to involve Smith in the offense last year.

You've pretty much got the rest right, also.

Yeah, that's my thinking. We will see with Titans if we have an offense or not, unless the Titans defense has risen to the level of the last two teams. If they have I guess we will have to go into the season blind on how good/bad we really are.

The offense struggles I think because we develop no chemistry. Receivers get shuttled in and out which gives the guys no "go to guy". I can't believe I am saying it but honestly if Jarrett had played more I think he would have done fine and we would have moved the ball. He looked very good tonight. LaFell and Moore didn't really. After that first catch by Moore, he didn't do much else.

From my view in the stands he still ran routes gingerly and didn't get all that much seperation. Once again his hands are outstanding.

Right now he's our most reliable receiver because of his hands. It's crazy. IF you can get the ball to him he will catch it.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
