Kenny Moore cut!

Moore never really had a chance. Panthers are protecting their pride not wanting to admit their terrible high investments (Jarrett, Edwards) while Lafell is a prospect who actually deserves more time.

Edwards inability to do anything on the team caused tehm to need a return man and Gettis is potentially that guy so he also gets a spot.

Ultimately all these receivers other than Lafell aren't 'NFL Worthy' imo, and I'm not even sure about him.

I really hate that Irvin and Tyler were cut, but when you think of it, it speaks pretty highly of the other guys that we got for cheaper. Unless this is all a cost-cutting measure to bring in someone else (like a receiver).

I'm feeling this thought

So that means Martin or Gettis or Edwards comes in and starts if Smith gets hurt. lol

killer now this is funnier than ricky bobby stabbing his own leg..."u wanna see what my life is.....don't you stick that knife in your leg...."......

I'm actually ok with most of the cuts so far. The only one in question for me, personally, is the Tank Tyler cut. But to agree with what someone else said above me, it kind of testifies to the amount of talent the guys we kept have. I expect us to have a top ten defense once again this year... possibly top 5... and much improved against the run.

WHy are people so surprised about the Tank Tyler cut? He got traded by KC for goodness sakes, and you think it is such a surprise the he didn't do much with the Panthers? Watching him sweat it out with the third string defense in the last preseason game wasn't a red flag? Derek Landri has absolutely outplayed him, Ed Johnson is a Ron Meeks student, Louis Leonard is looking like a stud in the making, and we have a plethora of versatile DEs that can play the inside if needed. Where exactly does Tyler fit?

Kenny Moore getting cut isn't a major shocker. The kid is agile, runs somewhat decent routes, but every time his number was called, he didn't make that "wow" play. yeah there was a play that he snagged a tipped ball, but apart from that, what else? It seems for the panthers when a WR that is supposed to be fast can't deliver on the classic smoke route it isn't a good sign for sticking with the Panthers. Colbert, couldn't do it, Taye Biddle couldn't do it, and now Kenny Moore can't do it. not surprisingly, they've been trying it a ton with Armanti Edwards. Just one last thing, Kenny Moore can't jump worth for crap. The kid is good natured, probably has a great work ethic, but the sad truth is he simply isn't an NFL caliber WR.

More concerned that Nick Hayden appears to still be on the team.

Kenny Moore being local talent was a sentimental favorite of mine but i had my doubts all along that he would stick.

Seems we have players that can do the things he does just as good or better, thereby making him expendable.

c/s

its not like he was a gamebreaker. players like him are a dime a dozen. we wont be any worse off without him. that being said i liked him, he was a decent WR. i really enjoyed watching him at wake forest

I made the thread during the 2nd PS game predicting it, but it got trashed b/c I made it during the game, but I'd just like to point out that I called his cut then. Nothing against him, like I said, I had hope for him when we signed him b/c of his games at WF, but he's not a #3 guy in the NFL. He may be able to get on somewhere as a 4 or 5.

Just too inconsistent... Best of luck to him.

And I believe my last predictions about WR were all correct except for Charly Martin... Kind of surprised he made it.

    • After some of the calls last year probably won't see much of a drop off
    • https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/48344034/nfl-begin-hiring-replacement-officials-given-state-negotiations-nfl-referees-association   Honestly fug these refs and their union. Resisting changes that would actually incentivize good performance and not seniority based systems. What a bunch of donkeys. Hope the replacements straight up take their jobs and never give them back. Sick of watching refs script games with no repercussions.
    • Donovan seems like highest risk to me. Lloyd and May have already established relationships with all these kids. There’s probably guys hitting the portal that they recruited from HS. And then there’s the possibility of transferring their own guys from their current teams. They’ve also been recruiting the HS kids for like the next 5 years already. Look at the Iowa coach who hit the ground running by transferring all his guys from his D2 program. Or going across sports to Cignetti transferring all his JMU guys year one then building off that to a national title year 2. Donovan is starting from square one having been in the NBA so long and he’s already 60. So you’re potentially punting year 1 for a guy you are just hoping to be a 10 year hire while you figure out how to actually develop your next home grown 20yr guy. That’s 1/10th of the time you have him, more or less at best. The hope would be that he would find some high level assistants who have been working the college recruiting trails already, but then are you giving up his ideal staff just to get a foothold in recruiting and transfers. Think Belichick year one was bad? Imagine how much worse it would be without Steve Belichicks transfer portal pulls. Hoping Mays or Lloyd are all they’re cracked up to be.
