I'm confused? Who runs the "Mountaineer" package...Jarrett? :smilielol5:

I would imagine, by showing it, they intend to use it, right? So if he is inactive, whats the purpose of wasting our practice time, it's supposed to give the opponent something else to prepare for.

Thats why you have a pure ST guy at a different position. Say..Witherspoon. Who showed a whole lot more than Martin, who showed nothing. Doesn't make since you're gonna bench 2/3 of the WRs you picked over someone that can only play ST.

They would be regulated to the last string WR, who, especially in this offence, would get hardly any playing time. So if thats the case, why have them active over a guy who can contribute every game by playing ST?

They could use 4 WRs, rotate the last 2 guys in the slot. Martin would be the 5th and just contribute on ST. Or if they had Spoon, all the DPs could be rotated. If you want to develop your talent and help your 5 year dry streak of not finding a #2 and 7 year dry streak of not developing one, you get them playing time. Not sit them on the bench.

Thats a different argument. Im simply arguing, that given that only 4 Wr's will be active, it makes more since to have a good ST player active, then WR's who would be in the game for a handful of plays a game , if that.

Last time I looked, both Gettis and AE played on ST also. (AE and Gettis also led the team in receptions in the preseason.) BTW this is a "guess" by a idiot named Gantt! I agree with KillerKat, the time is now to develop a #2 and #3, not a guy who caught 1 pass and had 3 solo tackles on ST (Martin). How about we just put DJ on the inactive list, because thats what he is on the field!

:cheers2:

Well the question would be is Martin still in a cast?

8 Players will be inactive, Pike will be 1 and the other 7?

1) Pike

2) Duckworth

3) Neblett

4) Norwood or another LB or both

5) Sutton (Is he still injured?)

6) A Safety (Puts you down to 7 deep in the DB)

7) WR (Please God, be #80)

8) ?

This is going to be interesting!

    • It appears that he sees things differently than the QB and OC, so Cam's advice is spot on. It isn't about number of targets, it's about quality of targets. Trust and being on the same page. BY doesn't know how to anticipate what XL is doing. And XL doesn't like where BY is placing passes. One on one film study would go a long way. More for BY than XL though. He has to adjust to XL. I really don't think XL can adjust on the fly.
    • If the team shows improvement, then he shouldn't be in danger of losing his job - even if the record doesn't reflect. This was a very young team (with a lot of new vet starters) that overperformed last season. Somebody's doing something right. Consistency is key with so much youth. And we're potentially looking at new starters at ILB and FS. Those are positions that take time to fully understand the defense. ILB calls the front 7. Safety calls the back 4. Injuries at WR and IOL killed the offense last season. Depth needs to be upgraded. Same with Edge. I think they would have won more games if Pat Jones doesn't go down early. Be smart with the roster and draft. Trade players for assets when it's time to pay them more than they're worth - yes, that includes BY if he doesn't make a pretty big jump. That's one of the many reasons Tillis is as important as anyone to the future of this team.
    • He had heart surgery a while back he looks Fraile I hope he is okay
