Bask in that glorious reality. The double irony for the Panthers is, well, double trouble.

Only Terrell Davis who topped 2k was the only back ever to do that. Having Elway I'm sure hurt.

The easiest money you will make is to bet against a team who is run first to make the SB.

It's a QB league now. Passing attacks win now. A team has to have the ability to run the ball when needed. But the old days of 4 yards and a cloud of dust are gone. To win you need an elite QB and an aerial attack. This is one ofd the reasons i'm looking forward to Fox getting fired. The game has passed him by.

Context is a wonderful thing

New Orleans was 6th in the NFL in rushing yards per game last year

The Giants were 4th in the NFL in rushing yards per game in 2007

Steelers were 5th in the NFL in rushing yards per game in 2005

EDIT: Stropuealoop is right...Jacbos ran for 1004 yards in 2007 despite only playing in 11 games and Joseph Addai ran for 1081 on the 06 Colts. And Willie Parker ran for 1202 in 2005. More holes in that theory.

Our offense is safe. What 1000+ yard rusher can do, is generally get you to the playoffs. After that it's a lot of things that go into making it to the Superbowl outside of rushing. What would be more interesting to see as a stat is how far each team with a 1,000 yard rusher went into the playoffs and then look at how their defense stacked up.

In order for the run-first offense to work, you gotta have some serious defense. Otherwise, the pass-first teams that are taking over the league will score just as fast and win, eating the clock doesn't matter.

Prime example, look at The Dolphins and Colts game last year, I believe it was MNF... The Phins held the ball for almost the whole game. Peyton just took over at the end of the game and scored enough to beat them.

To be honest, I love DLo and JStew and want to keep them here for their careers, but run-first philosophies are becoming a thing of the past, and on top of that, our pass designs and formations are prehistoric. I'd like to see some creativity in our passing game.

We don't need creativity in our passing game. We need execution. MM was locking in on what he was going to throw. There were plenty of check downs available. Also pressure was crazy the second half. Our O-line was like a sieve. Play-calling was predictable. Total team execution was poor. Our D played well enough to win yesterday. We had excellent field position the entire first half. Just couldn't capitalize. Goodson needs to be utilized more.

      Well, everyone is a critic.  not much meat on the bone here in analysis but if the team needs motivation … lol   I have also heard a lot of talking head or two say that ‘Young is not in the same class as most of these teams and that in 12 of the 17 games he is the lesser QB   BR write up below  2025 record: 8-9 Last season, the Carolina Panthers made the playoffs for the first time since 2017. They won the division. Bryce Young made strides, throwing for 3,011 yards, 23 touchdowns and 11 interceptions with a 63.6 percent completion rate. Wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan won the 2025 Offensive Rookie of the Year award. In free agency, the Panthers signed edge-rusher Jaelan Phillips and linebacker Devin Lloyd to bolster their middling defense. Carolina can win with complementary football if the offense continues to trend in the right direction. In 2026, Carolina will play the AFC North and NFC North on a first-place schedule, which includes matchups against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, and the Seattle Seahawks. The club will have a much tougher 17-game slate than it had last year, which may lead to regression. The Panthers aren't on the same level as the league's top teams. We'll see the gap between them and division-winning clubs from the previous season. 2026 projection: 6-11

      If someone key is hurt and your bye week helps you by not forcing you to play without them, it is at a good time.  No way to know about that ahead of time.   I would concede that with 17 games and let’s say you are playoff bound, you would love to have it late

      Hate it for him personally and hope he recovers well. But honestly, reaching an injury settlement and moving on would probably be a best case scenario for the Panthers. This signing always felt like a desperate knee-jerk reaction to losing out on Milton Williams. Williams was a logical scheme fit while Wharton just wasn't. He's best used as a rotational interior pass rushing specialist in an even front. He's way too small to play the nose in a 3-4 and he lacks the length and juice to play the end. Healthy he's a nice roster piece in the right scheme at the right price but we overpaid him to play him in the wrong scheme. The signing just never made any sense to me and I said so at the time.
