madhatter: skins sign free agents and they suck

fiz: actually there are many reasons they suck

Fiz talking out of his ass:

Fiz....Patriots bring in FA so they are great.

Fiz....Redskins bring in high priced FA's and they suck....but for other reasons.

What Free Agent, outside of a WR, do you think this team should have overspent to bring in? the FA class was terrible this year.

tj houshmanzadeh cost literally nothing. he is making the league minimum.

now of course we can't just assume he would have chosen to come here, and i suppose it's possible the panthers expressed interests in him and it was kept secret but in this day and age of twitter and what not i doubt that.

Also boldin and vincent jackson both would have been incredible additions to the team and not cost anything but of course they wanted new contracts.

The Patriots are a team that drafts well, signs people well, and does well at acquiring players that compliment their team chemistry. sometimes they are small ones that turn out good (moss), sometimes they're trades (welker), sometimes they're the biggest free agent signing of the offseason (adalius thomas).

this is much different than the Redskins, who on top of not signing players well, they don't draft well, they dont hire coaches well...they don't really do much of anything well.

but you breaking it down to patriots: draft v redskins: fa are the posts of a big gay baby

I gave you a vet WR. I would have LOVED to have seen housh here. however, I doubt (my opionin) that he would have signed here for a cheap contract like he did in Baltimore. He wants a ring and went where he thought he could get one.

I would not touch Jackson. He has proven to be a diva and a cancer in this holdout fiasco.

Boldin was definitely worth a #3 and i wish we had made the deal.

As i said....WR was the one area I disagree with the current strategy.

supposing that any would have wanted to come...housh. automatic upgrade to passing game. one year contract for vet minimum. done deal.

we should have traded for boldin.

far and away, the ravens have done more to ensure a solid year this year without sacrificing much in the future as far as contracts/cap space go.

no, he would, because seattle is still paying him his contract. like, he doesn't have a choice in it.

well they also need offensive line depth, which isn't something i would have predicted. they're also thin at linebacker and corner. and of course, the annual me bitching about filling in the special team ranks with people from the stands.

Didn't ready the majority of the thread but for the OP:

FFS, when is enough enough with the blackout threads and posts. It isn't going to happen, and won't happen this season. Worry about something important like whether or not this was worth clicking the New Thread button.

I also don't think our WR corp is our biggest issue.

With the running game we have, smart QB play and good OLine play would lead to offensive success. We need for Moore not to make huge mistakes (like he did Sunday)..run the ball...and make a few plays in the passing game.

Moose was not much of a WR threat the past few years. Yet, we went 12-4 and the #2 seed in the NFC with basically the same offense.

Another WR is not the answer....getting our OLine to get their heads out of their asses and block is the answer.

    • I have said if you out even an average QB into the offense we are averaging 25+ points a game. But that will never happen with Bryce under center.
    • The defense is 28 out of 32 in salary cap allocation for 2025. We have a ton of resources tied up in the offense including the highest paid OL in the league multiple 1st round WR's and multiple recent draft picks across the offense at TE and RB and we have two 1000 yard backs. Bryce and company couldn't get past Tyler Shough and his crew in 2 games. That's all there is to it. You can spin it and put the entire onus on the defense to your heart's desire it doesn't change the fact that this is an OFFENSIVE team now. If you want to argue that we should revert back to a defensive identity as we have been in the past which has brought us success then I will agree with you on that. But as it stands the onus is on the offense because that is where we have invested through the nose. Dave Canales and Bryce Young need to do a hell of a lot better than they have against the rebuilding Saints who without us should only have 2 wins this season.
    • Bryce is not trending up. He is the same QB he has always been. Bottom of the league in most categories.  If Canales thinks he can build a contender with Bryce then he is a bigger idiot then I thought.  Offense next year will have the same issues and be just as inconsistent as it was this year.  We have seen Bryce’a ceiling and it is 175 yards a game and that is not a QB you keep around as your starter. That is barely a backup.
