Barnidge / Rosario out wide?

Yes, I am bringing this up again.

I don't believe as an offensive coordinator, you let such talent go to waste on the bench because of the letters beside the players names. We saw Jeff King out wide last week, mainly to motion in and block on running plays.

So why not Barnidge and/or Rosario out wide?

I asked them about it at lunch this week. They both kind of gave me that look like they would like to really comment but couldn't. Rosario only said that "we know all the plays" in half agreement with me.

I just want to see it once. Moore under center with Williams as a single back. Smitty out to the right wide, King on the line, Rosario in the left slot, Barnidge out on the left wide. Great pass catching talent out there, but if you need to audible a run you have 3 TE's out there blocking for you. Those two guys are massive. I am 6'2 200lbs and felt like a third grader standing next to them. I can imagine how a 5'10 180 CB would feel. lol

Maybe I will draw it up on a napkin and send it up to the booth Sunday.

Surely if they were in the slot they wouldn't have CBs facing them? With all three TEs on the field the opposing defence is not going play mutiple CDs, at best one would get a favourable match up. The other two would have LBs on them.

Regardless I am still unconvinced they would be any better than our possession WRs.

We've seen that Rosario has the skills to be a go-to reciever..SD game '08...and if Barnidge had a signature play it would be the long pass down the sideline, he's run it down at times and caught the ball deep other times. He is as much of a vertical threat as any of our non-Smitty recievers, plus he has a distinct height and hands advantage over most DBs. Rosario in the slot...King blocking

3 TEs...it sounds almost crazy enough to work...esp in the red zone because of the check-down-to-run option it gives with bigger blockers on the outside...

in any case...if it seem like a good idea, Fox probably won't do it.

Damn, I was kind of hoping maybe the team is trying to keep something up their sleeves with them playing out wide, but that does not sound like the case :(

    • Lions were never going Freeling over Miller for the same reason we wouldn't have taken Miller had Freeling not been on the board. Miller is a career RT Lions have a hole at RT, we have a hole at LT. If we took Miller, it would have been for him to backup Moton until he retires and/or we release him, so the best case scenario is it would have been a wasted 1st round pick for at least 1, if not 2 years.  At least Freeling has a shot at playing this year without injury ahead of him, he absolutely can win the LT job if he earns it, but Miller would have never supplanted Moton this year unless he got hurt.
    • What up y’all. I like threads like this where we can stroll down memory lane. I remember the insane amount of site traffic pre-crash when we signed Keyshawn Johnson, 06 I believe. Raging about the Cowboys Christmas Eve loss in 05 (Peppers touched that FG attempt as sure as Cotchery caught it). When I found the huddle I basically had a first born baby, now I’ve got one in college and one in high school. Life comes at you fast, but the Panthers and the Huddle has been a steady constant in my life for many years.  Those who have been here, y’all are cool with me any time any where.    Cheers, genitals!
    • This is a weird post since it wasn’t like we got A’s across the board. We needed a QB and got a consensus top 2 player at that position. (I was pretty vocal that Stroud should’ve been the guy but…)  I think this draft we generally got better value. I’m not particularly optimistic on BY but another year in this offense playing with TMac he really needs to be a consistently average QB at a minimum
