Has Fox wore out his welcome???

I watched the Cards game. I don't remember Fox getting mad about the fact that neither our offensive or defensive gameplan was working. Seems to me that if the person in charge didn't like what he saw, he'd have said something. Maybe Davidson and Trgo were doing what they were told.

It's tough because I really like John Fox. He worked a miracle in 2003 and I think some of us owe it to him to keep him around.

However,(In a Stephen A. Smith Voice) I look at what happened with us last year and I look at what happened to the Patriots this year. Last year we lost Jake and I honestly think there were guys on the team that mailed it in. You look at the Pats losing their number 1 player, the MVP and so called best QB ever and they take a guy who hadn't started since high school and still win 11 games.

This team has a lot of talent and after the loss the the Cards I thought to myself hey stuff happens but the more I think about it there does need to be a change. I mean look at the absolute gold mine the Steelers fell into. I swear Mike Tomlin could talk me into suiting up a running through a brick wall. I think John Fox has lost the killer instinct he had when he arrived. I don't know if Fox needs to go the more I think about it maybe Cowher would light a fire under these guys but regardless we need a new DC. I mean Cowher went to Championship games with Kordell Stewart and Neil O' Donell. I mean Kordell and Jonathan are brothers...

It would suck. Unnecessary turmoil within the team could certainly wreck the fine players we have. Also, what would we expect of a new coach? If we told any prospects that hey, you better lead this team to a better record than 12-4 and then go deep in the playoffs your first year, they'd all run for the exit.

I honestly like Fox as a coach, but my trust IN HIM and my Faith in his ability to do whats right for this team in dissapearing.

I dont need a coach who air the laundry out to the media, but in a business where the fans pay the way it would be nice to understand the direction the team is going.

I am just tired with his pridefull "it is what it is, I will do it my way, they practice too" mentality.

It sounds crazy after a 12-4 season, but Its always the same arguements for and against Fox.

I will give him 1 more season, if he cant string together at least another winning season he has to go IMO.

We have way too much talent.

    • Calling carrier for getting punched in the nose just to keep us from a 5 on 3
    • I just mean it’s always offsetting in that situation.  I didn’t realize they called another penalty
    • And as I asked this again before, what goes into PFF's man open %, as I know you've brought that stat up before. Is that just the number of routes he gets open at any point during the route, or is it calculated on targets and if he was open when the ball got to him. Because like I pointed out so many times in the lead up to the draft, a big reason it was harder for him to get separation against man was because he not only had his man on him, but he was double or triple teamed on the majority of his routes this past year.  Just because of that alone, it was easier for him to get open against zone coverage where he could find holes and sit in them. Also, again, as been discussed so many times, his QB's play this year was awful, and lots of times his contested catches were due to him not delivering the ball on time when T-Mac got open.  Or just times he got open but wasn't targeted for whatever reason. So just using that stat as a way to say he struggles to get open against man is more likely than not, disingenuous. Hell, it's a PFF stat that you're using against him, yet at the same time, PFF absolutely loves him, he was their 4th overall player.   I posted this clip on here a week or so ago of the T-Mac vs Hunter game in 2023, where the anti T-Mac guys like to say Hunter shut him down.  But numerous times in this video you see T-Mac create tons of separation from Hunter but the ball wasn't thrown his way, plus a clear PI that wasn't called (and the one that was). https://x.com/4MR_Fetti/status/1918262063660454227 The "he can't separate" narrative is way overblown and become something more myth than reality.  No, he's not an elite separator like some of the quick twitch WRs, but he's so much better than the haters here like to say.
