EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP)

New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs has been fined $10,000 by the NFL for tossing his helmet into the stands against the Indianapolis Colts.

In a statement released by the Giants on Tuesday, Jacobs apologized again for tossing the helmet during the third quarter of the Giants' 38-14 loss on Sunday night.

Jacobs said he had ''no business tossing my helmet'' and he's ''thankful that nobody was hurt.''

General manager Jerry Reese and coach Tom Coughlin asked to speak with him on Monday. Jacobs lost his starting job to Ahmad Bradshaw earlier this season.

Jacobs said he has ''no plans to demand a trade.'' The only demand he's making is ''to be the best player I can be and to help this team win.''

What makes me mad is that he tossed his helmet into the stands and security had to wrestle it away from the COLTS Fan who ended up with it! If you hit a HR or fly ball in baseball, the fan gets to keep the ball. I hope he gets the $10,000!

I've been asked to give footballs back at Raider games that go over the nets on the goal posts.

A helmet is not a baseball.

OOPS, the wind blew Fox's play call sheet into the stands! Fan keeps it. Oops, LeBron's dunk hits the rim and goes into the crowd. Fan keeps basketball. OOPS, DeAngelo takes his cleats off between quarters but a tsunami hits the stadium and the cleats end up in the first row. Wet fan keeps cleats. Oops, Tiger Woods looses his best club and it ends up in the crowd. No one hurt. Fans gets a signed ball? Hell no, fan gets this expensive club!

Or...baseball player hits one of many balls at the stadium that day into the crowd. MLB lets fan keep it. Even when a bat goes into the stands they exhange it for a practice bat.
