I want to clear up that I didn't mean that we couldn't win on Sunday but that it would be unrealistic to judge Jimmy's performance based on a win or a loss. We could absolutely win on sunday but to expect to win bc clausen is starting is a little crazy.

No INTS, no fumbles. If he can do that, and not wildly miss targets, we can see it as it is: a decent start by a rookie. If the O-Line doesn't let him get bashed, RBs gain solid yards, the the DBs don't get toasted, the score may not look so bad. All he has to do is not look like 2009 Jake or 2010 Moore and we can say the future is bright. We don't have to win.

If our defense can create some turnovers and give Jimmy and the offense some short-field situations to work with, that would help tremendously. And for God's sake, if we can bust some good runs to keep the defense honest and pick up the blitzes (they're going to be bringing the house at Jimmy), and he can make solid decisions under those circumstances, then progress is being made.

If we see that the guy is a more patient and cerebral QB, not to mention more mobile, then we have to eventually put additional pieces around him in the offense to groom his potential.

If we are going to start him, then we are going to have to accept that it will be a learning year because solid campaigns by rookie Qbacks are relatively rare. He is going to have some good games, and some bad ones. Lets just hope for his psyche, that the good outnumber the bad.
