NASCAR Taking Closer Look At #33 Car

Excellent article regarding the penalties...

http://www.buildingspeed.org/blog/2010/09/33-car-penalties/

Take note the end about the two truck driver. This appeal should be interesting...but know NASCAR's dictating ways, this bogus penalty will stand. Not to mention he PASSED pre-race inspection on this same item. It's bogus, and NASCAR will continue to dig it's own grave unless they fix it.

They oughta take the damn win away too and give it to Hamlin!! Set precedent for Chase rules.

The car at Richmond ALMOST was illegal.............this one IS illegal.

Jimmie had the same thing happen to him a few years back and they didnt take points. One reason i hardly follow Nascar anymore. They need to be even with the rules across the board. Not have favorites.

Oh, yes. And Jimmie + Knaus are sweet little angels that have never even thought of approaching the grey area of the rulebook in their lives.

Frankly, it doesn't matter whether NASCAR is in the right or wrong here. There are no winners in this situation, only losers, with NASCAR, not Bowyer, being the largest one.

Another reason Nascar's following is diminishing as quickly as their credibility.

Yknow, I don't want this to come out wrong because I have no problem with you but.....

I've heard now for 10 years that Nascar is losing fans, ratings are down, ppl aren't coming blah blah blah.....

At some point, one has to agree this is the best the racings been in a long long long time. Different winners, chase (whether you like it or not), multiple series....

For as long as we've been hearing Nascar's dying, that life support they're on sure does seem to work well.

Ratings have declined drastically, fans have stopped buying tickets. Those are two completely obvious facts, and there is no way to swerve it. The racing this season has been boring and stale the majority of the time. Sure some races had some great finishes due to GWC or similar situations, BUT people are tired of watching 4-5 hour marathons on TV these days. Especially with NASCAR milking advertisements on FOX, ESPN and TNT. You watch 5 minutes of race then 6 minutes of commercials it seems. That is a huge turn off...then when the action on the track only happens under commercial break, NASCAR has a problem.

No it isn't easy having commercial breaks during a live and non-stop broadcast, but is easier for those to accept it when you aren't having products crammed down your throat. I mean I for one am tired of seeing little green flag coverage and non-stop yellow flag coverage.

As for your post about different winners, you are right and yet you are wrong in that regard. While during the season the winners (while still the same) are a bit more frequent instead of long stretches of wins by certain drivers. However, the chase for the past 4 years has been won by the same driver. Drama? Non-existent.

NASCAR isn't on life-support, but it NASCAR is in serious condition. A condition that stupid things like this penalty won't help.

I kind of LOL at the fact that NASCAR is basically ignoring someone who has been replicating accidents and incidents for 45 years who basically has facts to back up Bowyer and RCR's claim. NASCAR is just...blah. If I didn't enjoy it on occasion I'd hope it rotted away. Brian France needs to crawl into a hole for a long time.

My guess is the next appeal will end up the same as the first.

Can anyone on the forum remember a NASCAR ruling bein over turned?

There may have been but i don't ever recall one.

The last one was Charlotte Motor Speedway in 2000 when the bridge incident took place. The man responsible for helping CMS? The very same person who is helping Bowyer...I smell a vendetta on NASCAR's part now. They didn't even look at what he brought to the table this go round.

    • I wonder if they'd consider trading Rasheed Walker to a team that needs tackle help but missed out in the draft?
    • LOL. This is such a Panthers fan take.  Anyone who falls to us must suck because some other team didn't take them before.  We got lucky with Lemon, Thieneman, and Freeling all falling to us (honestly any of the three is a A+) but the WR and S positions are much deeper than the LT position in this draft.  We got the LT w/ the most upside at 19.  Mauigoa played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the nfl.  Spano played RT in college and some think he is a guard in the NFL due to short arms.  Blake Miller played RT in college and is not as good as Freeling.  Proctor is a true LT but his ability to handle quick edge's worries me (see Icky).  Freeling is a true LT and a gifted pass protector.  Many think he has a very high ceiling and will benefit from not having to start right away.  This is how you build a franchise.
    • After watching Cam get killed for years behind a bad Oline and having to watch the 2021 and 2023 Olines I will never complain about this team putting resources into that spot.  We got a true LT who could really push Rasheed Walker for the day 1 job. Go back and watch Iceky's draft profile from 2022 and all the talk was Ickey would be an all-pro guard in a zone blocking scheme, but he could play LT in a gap power run scheme. That's why Ickey looked really good when Wilks took over and we just started running gap run plays and just mauled people up front but under Canales we've been more of a zone running team. Ickey can survive at LT with his pass blocking but his true strength will always be his ability to just move guys in the run game and that's a skill set that's better used at guard.  Take another OT later on day 3 to learn from Moton to take over RT in a couple of years and let Walker and Freeling battle it out for the day 1 LT job then next offseason trade one of Hunt of Lewis and let Ickey move inside to guard.
