13 attempts in 2 games, stewart insists heel is fine

Jonathan Stewart insisted that his heel feels fine and it's not the reason he has just 13 rushes through two games.

DeAngelo Williams has been the bell cow, touching the ball 36 times so far. Just like Stewart, we can't blame injuries for his lack of touches. Stewart has barely practiced throughout his NFL career and it never stopped coach John Fox from using him before. Now that Stewart is healthier than ever, it's surely not the reason. Expect his workload to rise gradually as the season goes on.

rotoworld...

Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart just shook his head when asked to put a percentage on how healthy he felt.

"I don't do percentages. No percent," he said with a laugh. "Only good and bad, man. That's all this business cares about, producing, whether it's good or bad."

Toward that end, Stewart said he felt physically well, after yet another offseason spent rehabbing instead of practicing...

...He's had 13 running attempts in the first two games, leading some to wonder whether he's still ailing. He was much more productive in the Bucs game (eight attempts for 43 yards) than against the Giants in the opener (five attempts for 12 yards), but has yet to show the form he displayed last year while leading the team with 1,133 rushing yards.

"I feel good," he said, laughing again. "I feel a lot better than I did last year. Like a totally reversed feeling. My foot's fine."

Hmm. I love to read into things. This almost sounds bitter. The whole "that's all this business cares about" part. I wish I could've heard how he delivered it. I wonder if something is bugging our young star.

He is gimmpy even in a platoon role. For those who say trade him for a good WR are crazy. No GM is going to give up a star WR or even an up/comer for an alwasy gimmpy RB. Not gonna happen. He may last one game as the bell cow back.

Did you even watch the end of last season?

Our whole offense has done next to nothing so far and Goodson has started eating into his touches so far. Stewart is one of the most complete backs in the league he just happens to be behind another one that is one of the biggest playmakers in the league. But GM's will constantly use that as a reason to offer less it just means he won't be traded.

At this point if we could get a 1st for Dwill I would take it as I think Goodson complements Stewart so well and I think (and he showed last year) he can be that number 1 back.

If we can get a first for Dlo, the front office would take it and not think twice about it IMO. As much as I love Deangelo and want him to be a panther his entire career, this is a business.

I don't know why everybody is freaking out, last year after 2 games Stewart had 20 carries. 11 against Philly and 9 against Atlanta, he then went on to only tote the rock 3 times against Dallas.

I don't really think there is any cause for concern. Fox seems to always go with the hot hand. Against the Giants neither Stewart or Williams were able to produce. Goodson, as a duel threat both running and passing was able to get more done than either of the other two. In the Tampa game none of the backs were really producing anything until the 4th quarter (coincedence?) and the one producing was Stewart and he got most of the carries in that quarter.

but there HAS to be something dubious going on behind the scenes that they don't want us to know about! i mean read between the lines!!!! he said "i don't do percentages." WHAT DOES THAT MEAN??? WHY DOES RICHARDSON HATE HIM SO MUCH? it's just proof that JR is out to screw the fans.

    • I have been looking for a dropped pass list and all that comes up is QBs. And team stats. When I do receivers I get the passing stats for a handful that threw passes this year.    I wanted to be accurate but anyhow I was looking because thought I remembered reading where T Mac had more drops than XL this year.  One of you many smarter than me people here,I would appreciate it if you know how to pull that up, please do. Thank you.    And yeah I know that isn’t all there is to it I just thought it was interesting.  Of course what the hell is a drop lol.
    • I agree with this and I think it's worth mentioning too that Bryce is not consistent on his placement and especially velocity and that in large part is driven by his footwork. We all know XL doesn't have the best hands and I don't know that he can overcome that. Cam always had the heater that just hit your hands and sank into your grip, where Bryce has some that are harder thrown, some soft. Bryce stepping into a pass looks so much different than that hop throw thing he does. I think XL really needs to hit the jugs machine and start learning how to catch all these different touch passes. TMac and Coker don't have these issues. If XL doesn't get some work in he's going to be out of the league in the next couple of years.
    • I think most people like XL from a personal standpoint. I don't think he's stupid either. Although if we are being realistic he is lacking in football IQ at this point in time and it cannot be disputed that he has not taken working on his craft seriously at all times given the body of work on the field. It speaks for itself. I myself have defended him at times given the circumstances of our QB room. But he is now in his third year and 25 years old. We are not in a position as a franchise to go around babying anyone especially first round draft picks. He needs to take his position and his football career seriously or he is going to end up selling used cars somewhere. I hope he realizes this and takes an extended break from social media because that mess certainly isn't going to increase his net worth if he ends up out of the league. And these hanger on types will disappear quick too once that money dries up and it surely will eventually. We'll see how he responds.
