Congratulations Jimmy Clausen

big improvement, so nice not to have a pic. When was the last game that the panthers did not have an interception? I cant remember the last time. Well two gripes left, and it was stated earlier, urgency, he needs to work on that internal clock, 2nd batted down passes! He needs to slide over to get around tall hands. It much better then air mailing it tho. All will come in time. The oline needs to do something because 3 and 10 repeatedly wont help develop a qb. Also is it me or does Jimmy look better when he scrambles around then in the pocket, more boot legs please.

Could of been much worst. Needs to work on his game management skills but no turnovers or huge mistakes makes it a good 2nd start for a rookie QB. Of course it's not like he was throwing the ball all over the place either.

Check the stats...If I'm not mistaken Jimmy set a panther record for the number of different receivers thrown too.

He scanned the field like a vet and got everyone involved...made plenty of mistakes but still a very good second start

Clausen had completions to 8 different receivers. Impressive, but I'd guess Beuerlein has done the same.

I'm checking on that now, I thought they said on TV that was a new panther record.

Which makes me wonder why some people say he was stairing down his receivers...he was scanning the field very well...especially for a second start

Be nice if we could really assess him, BUT...the freakin O-line is playing so horribly that Clausen is just trying to stay upright!

I think he is doing a pretty good job, but has a long way to go. He needed to throw the ball away instead of getting even further out of FG range & he needs to get in sync with his WRs (that is not his fault, b/c it usually comes from working extensively with the WRs in training camp, but he needs to get it togehter...he missed some easy throws for a NFL QB).

I'm glad to see him progressing, but very ticked that our OC & OL suck so bad that it's hard to tell where Clausen really is.

I wasn't impressed with Clausen today. He doesn't get the ball to Smith, only completed 50% of his passes and he could have easily had two interceptions if it wasn't for Gettis doing a good job (unlike Smith when picks happen in front of him) of breaking up the potential INT and King coming down with a lucky catch.

I'm not gonna sit here and make excuses for the guy. Sam Bradford is on a bad team and he's doing much better as a rookie QB. Clausen did better this game than last and he didn't throw the game away. At this point his a game managing QB. Hopefully he can improve into something more.

Congratulations Jimmy Clausen you are on the worst team in the league and possibly without your #1 WR now (Smith). Have fun.

But seriously, he looks decent, with some more experience we may have something.

Buffalo is far worse than we are.

First off, all you people hanging on Smitty's nuts...believe it or not, its a good thing we actually use other people...I know its hard for you to understand but it really is!

Secondly, Sam Bradford has a MUCH better O-line giving him time (Right now)

Third, Jimmy would have taken this team to victory today if it wasn't for the same person that put us in position to win it...in other words...this loss is on the TEAM! Jimmy did great for his second start!

Fourth, DJ doesn't catch EVERYTHIING

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
