James Anderson > Thomas Davis?

I hope someone backs me up on this, but Anderson was a step slow all day. He was beat covering the TE repeatedly, the fumble recoveries are what people do when they get to the scene of the crime a second late. He got a lot of praise and had some good plays, but he is not that good. He takes bad angles and gets blocked by the TE too often. I know some of you will disagree, but watch the tape. TD is much better.

Man, his slow 14 tackles today with a sack with more speed would equate to like 22 tackles and 5 sacks! Best defender everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

wat?

Anderson - 34 tackles + 11 assisted

Beason - 21 tackles + 14 assisted

Anderson - 1 sack

Beason - 0 sacks

Anderson - 4 passes defended

Beason - 0 passes defended

Anderson - 1 interception

Beason - 0 interceptions

Anderson - 1 forced fumble

Beason - 0 forced fumbles

Anderson - 2 fumble recoveries

Beason - 0 fumble recoveries

KEY WORD: right now

Guess you missed that?

This is actually a good case where stats speak the truth. Truth is, Anderson has been very consistent this season, most people on here dont know what to look for anyway. Hell, I remember a few a while back suggesting E Brown should replace him at his LB spot but w/e. Beason is playing a different position this season but I suspect his stats to go up.

I think a lot of people on here are over-exaggerating Davis' ability. He broke out last year and was playing on a pro-bowl level, but the seasons before that he was nothing special. Also, Meeks' defensive scheme played a big role in setting Davis up to make a lot of plays. Anderson doesn't have that luxury and has been quietly very good for us the past couple seasons. I think Anderson is about where Davis was before his big break out, and I think Anderson may be poised to have a similar kind of coming-out season.

    • They will be if they extend Young but I don't think we're there just yet. Morgan and Canales are tied and I don't believe Tepper is going to go look for a new front office for Bryce as things stand.
    • I was playing around with the ESPN playoff predictor and it shows if 49ers and Rams finish with same record, the Rams hold the tiebreaker.
    • This is my thinking as well. Seattle played as good as they could on defense and Panthers still had a chance until those back to back turnovers.  I don't think the Rams played particularly well in their game against us, alot things went our way in order to win.  Someone pointed out the Rams were bad on the east coast road games and Seattle has been the better road team but they just fought a hard contested game against the Panthers, and now they travel to San Fran this week for their biggest game of the season to determine the division and if they are the overall #1 seed in the NFC or will be traveling for the Wildcard weekend.  If they lose they then travel back cross the country to play a team they've just beaten two weeks ago, not saying they won't be favored against the Panthers but the energy of hosting our first playoff game in 10 years along with the get back effect of having just lost to this team could be huge.
