Look I might sound crazy... but what we are seeing right now is as bad as its going to get for Carolina football, and its actually looking very bright. If you bring in a whole new regime your starting from the ground up. We DONT need to do that unless you want to be in the hole for the next decade. Why would you want cowher who has had more 8-8, 7-9 seasons then winning seasons. Why? because of one super bowl win as a 6th seed? We have a formula here. We want to run the ball and play good defense. This team truly isnt that far off the mark. You have your defense in place your linebackers are set, one more playmaker in the secondary and thats set. Instead of downing the organization for the bad right now look at the good.

1.) They've given us a safety combination that will be here for the next decade. and Gamble is solid... (i personally hate marshall)

2.) A defensive line (needs tweaking) thats just going to GROW as a unit, and only get better week by week. Already getting after the qb! The SACKS WILL come!

3.) An identity as an offensive line yes they are struggling, but it truly hinges on Otah. We have a right tackle that makes that big of an impact on the oline... Quite the pick by fox and company huh? We do need more depth, veteran depth that is.

4.) The linebacking core we have is an elite group... yes, elite! Where's everyone that was getting on fox and company's ass for not cutting James Anderson in past offseasons? The guy is playing phenominal football, and only ups the competition at the position for when Davis does return. We have pro bowlers and depth at this position...set for years to come.

5.) We now have the perfect qb for the system thats in place. Calusen plays like a vet... He has minor hiccups... But for the most part he gets the ball out, takes what the D is willing to give him, throws the ball away when it isnt there, hes already making plays...I just dont see him having one of those rookie 5int games like Sanchez or Stafford last year... Hes just a smart high football iq guy, and understands not to force it even if hes too cautious at times...That will change in time i mean hes already more comfortable after one game. The best part? They got him for 5 years under a second round contract...ABSOLUTE STEAL!

6.) Home grown Carolina double trouble...Need we say more? Williams relies on quickness, Stewart being the power relies on the power up front that is Otah... Just wait until he comes back!

7.) Ahhhh last but not least the WR's... Steve Smith is the man we all know that, but who plays next to him or in the slot? We all blame the FO for this, but they have tried! Keyshawn didnt work. Jarrett was a bust, but we all wanted him... Kiper had him going 13th overall in the draft! But once again Fox and company were able to avoid the big money contract and were able to get him at an affordable low risk high reward pick. It didnt work...We move on we keep TRYING to fill the void. Lafell, Gettis, we havent seen Armanti yet! Gettis is making plays, I personally think this kid is the answer. Big, fast, good hands. Lets not forget Fox and company have given us 3 solid tight ends...I think theres a diamond in the rough somewhere in this group.

8.) Cap space... We have ALOT of it. It's an emergency fund and thats ALL it should be used for. Fill through the draft, FA for depth, and possibly an emergency big money FA. We have to keep this team with that Carolina, home grown feel, with unique characters, and distinct talent. Grow each positional unit as its own team. Thats what we have. Now lets let them grow together for years to come...And lets let this team build together. It has to get worse before it gets better. Starting with Tampabay...Its ONLY up from here.

Extend Fox and let this grow.

Stupid thread is stupid. If you want to be a mediocre team for the next 5 years then I say sure lets go ahead and extend him. If only we were mediocre this season then we possibly would look better than the browns. The only team that is worse than us is the bills and thats a fuking shame.

........... Why would you want cowher who has had more 8-8, 7-9 seasons then winning seasons. Why? because of one super bowl win as a 6th seed? ............

The above statement alone killed all the credibilityof this post. You need to switch the names. Fox has had more 8-8, 7-9 seasons then winning one. Check it out for yourself. Cowher had 10 Winning Seasons in his 15yrs coaching. He had a stretch of 6 winning seasons in a row, 3 in row, and 2 in row. John Fox doesnt even come close to that kind of consistency.

Cowher: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/CowhBi0.htm

Fox: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/coaches/FoxxJo0.htm

I am not saying Cowher is the answer but I would take him over Fox any day. The John Fox era is over. I will be pissed off if he is here next season. I think the new regim should have been in here already working with this current roster and be the ones in charge of the rebuilding. If Fox stays we will see the same keep it close, do little, depend on breaks, and win in the 4th qtr style that will deliver a winning season every several years or so - Maybe.

Fox's biggest flaw has come back to bite he and hurney in the rear. That flaw is neglecting the QB and WR position.

In the nfl you have to adapt to the changing environment. While run first, run second, pass thrid got us near the promise land in 2003, that philosphy needs to be tweaked over time and adjusted for defensive scheme changes.

Fox has never been able to adjust, not in the short or the long term. I believe that is what will ultimately cost him his job her.

I am grateful for what he has done for this franchise. He may have the personality of a brick, but he has been a stand up guy and I have appreciated his fire and passion

    • To start with, you wouldn’t want to count up that value chart. You would see quickly where that is headed. But you basically did a quantity comparison, while ignoring quality.  I am looking at 2023 as the start, because it became all about Bryce.  2023 you have 4 picks plus DJ Moore for offense vs 2 (80 and 145) for defense.  2024 you got the 1st overall, the 32, the 46 and the 101 for offense vs 72, 157, 200 and 240 for defense. Leave the FA IOL out of it. Which was a crazy big  investment. But it wasn’t draft.  Anyway, that is basically 4 top 100 picks for offense and 4 picks for defense in 2024. Except they were 2 first rounders, the second rounder, and the 4th was really high at 101. Vs 72 and day three stuff. Please….  Second quoted/bolded… See you think we hate Bryce. That isn’t it at all. It is nice easy way to characterize us and discredit our talking points though.   Me, I do mostly hate watching him play. But I don’t hate the person. I hate the hell out of the stanning.  It started with the very first question I asked about his footwork, arm strength, and size. Height being the principle objection. I never even got to the durability factor. There was plenty without factoring that in.  But there was rabid opposition to even asking the question of what a couple of small fractions of a second extra closing time would do for the defenders.  What the extra time it takes to flip the hips would do vs a pass rush or on the other end after the ball is in the air. Split second more for recognition where it is going for the DBs.  The tippy toe backpedal.  That poo was a mess and it has always been mess but no Bryce fan wanted to hear it. “Go get another team to root for”. “It worked in the SEC it will be fine in the NFL you don’t know football you are just a hater”.  It got worse when the real games started. It has never stopped. It is nice that many people have left that train so there is less abuse but it hasn’t stopped.  So whatever…
    • Whatever school you attended, I don't know and I don't care, but I would suggest demanding a refund.    Something was completely missed there.
    • The draft capital since since 2023 has in no way been pretty even.  Especially when you zero in on day 1 and day 2 draft picks.  Draft capital has vastly gone toward the O over D.
