u really think rip is better than mccoy? what is the reasoning behind that?

mccoy did nothing aside from befriending jake and having the QBs throw into a barrel. thats all. anyone who saw his workouts with the QBs saw that. rip, on the other hand, at least tried to implement some other things that would help with development. give me a couple minutes and i will find some examples.

i will say it was a huge difference between the two.

mccoy is getting far too much credit from people here. jake's demise had much more to do with his injury and what happened between jake's ears than switching from mccoy to rip. all rip did was try to help jake's mechanics and footwork. only problem was jake was an old dog and a wounded one at that.

EDIT: this link here has some observations made that distinguishes between the two. there are also articles out there that talk about the differences as well. they were pretty significant and witnessed by more than a few (myself included). http://www.carolinahuddle.com/forum/carolina-panthers/11852-the-mini-camp-thread-updated-sunday.html

Fox hasn't been the problem. The OC has been just terrible! I wish Charlie Weis would have came here. And not spending any money in the off season, and having the highest Cap room in the NFL isn't going to help Fox win games.

We have the youngest team in the NFL and Jerry Richardson had a chance to spend some money in the off season to compete with others in our division, but did nothing.

It's not just Fox, in my opinion he's a great coach just not in a great situation right now in Carolina.

You mean Rip fuged up Anderson in Cleveland, came here and fuged up Delhomme, tried to fug up Matt, and is probably going to fug up Clausen. ;)

i'm not saying that rip is a good coach, just that he's better than mccoy.

could just be that anderson and quinn were both bad QBs all on their own and that jake was already damaged goods by the time rip got here.

I'm actually on the McCoy bandwagon for HC... but I still think it is too early in his career for that...
i don't understand how anyone could be on that bandwagon. seriously that guy is given far too much credit. he has no responsibility on denver other than helping install mckids offense. anyone thinking that mccoy has any influence on orton has got to be kidding themselves.

mckid was the QB coach in new england from 2004 until he left. he was given the OC job in conjunction with his QB job. how do you think that cassel was able to step in and do so well after not starting a game in how many years? since high school?

that offense is mckids and mccoy is only along for the ride.

    • I mean I just don't understand the argument. Baker and Sam both have been pro bowl QBs post their time here. And you just said yourself that is due to him having a damn good roster around him and they are well coached. You're even saying the bad baker is still there somewhere, but he is in a good organization with good roster and coaching that they are getting the best out of him. Why does Baker and Sam get all that benefit of the doubt but when it comes to Bryce it must be a BY9 problem, not an org or team problem?  Hell I got a guy below you arguing with me that Chark/Hurst/Mingo sucked because Bryce wouldn't throw them open. It's ridiculous how far the stretch goes.
    • Correct.  It’s really hard to get open in the NFL when opposing defenses gameplan and cheat coverage/routes on all your players because they know your QB can’t make certain throws/plays.   magically no one that comes to Carolina can get open or make plays with the ball in their hands…..it’s like there is one singular common dominator to it all.  BY makes playing defense way too easy.   NFL players are too good to allow one side to cheat coverage and not respect all the potential threats of a route  so you can dial up a great play.  But if corners and safeties just cheat coverage and know X and Y happening on route/threats….getting open gets hard when they just play it one way.  Getting open has a lot to do with the different threats a WR can pose on a given play.
    • Kinda depends how you look at it both were 3rd round draft pics.  Nico was nothing before stroud and tank came in with stroud.  If both were on the panthers would young have them doing well and starting or would their stats be low.  I really dont know the answer to that.  None of the panthers wrs have left and did well either but personally i feel neither of nico or tank would do much on the panthers.
