I think most of us agree that the defensive scheme/coaching on the Panthers suck, so I dont blame Pep for getting fed up with the coaching. Pep, to his fault, is not a vocal person, which leaves the coaches to read his mind/body language. Instead of speaking out about something being wrong, Pep just went through the motions and didnt stir up a media mess. It must be bad when Pep, Carolinas best player ever, doesnt want to resign with his home team for a ton of money.

everybody wanted to know what the hell the problem was with pep...

now we know not just from this post but from pep's agent releasing that statement. what sensible player looks at a 14.5 sack and 40 something QB hurry season that ended with a playoff bye and says that he needs something different?

this has been in his mind since atleast 07 and if thats the case and he throws up a terrible 07 and then in his contract year (already knowing he wants out) puts up 14.5 without a major scheme change (LE to RE is not a major scheme change).

i say lets take our loss here and try to get enough to replace his productivity

thats all the NFL should be about anyways PRODUCTIVITY not player names, where they went to school, or how long they have been here

Me thinks a lot of Panthers fans are overestimating our defensive talent. Hell, most people thought our D-line was going to be very weak before this season started, but now they're a group of studs that the coaches don't know how to use. How did that happen without any personnel changes in between opinion changes?

New England has been doing this and has won lots of SB with it. I still thing we need a better game planner then Trgo cause he is just not good at it or adjustments.

Where did you get this secretive information at?

http://myespn.go.com/blogs/nfcsouth/0-7-104/Weighing-in-on-the-Peppers-situation.html

"Although he had 14.5 sacks this season, Peppers hasn't been happy in Carolina for quite some time. When Peppers was playing miserably in 2007 (just 2.5 sacks), I asked a teammate about the widespread rumors that something might be wrong physically. The teammate laughed, said no and pointed to his head.

The teammate went on to say that Peppers had stopped buying into Fox and simply was going through the motions."

Am I the only person wondering why Pat decided to write this NOW? Where was this quote in 2007, Pat?

This reminds me of Tom Sorensen when he trashed Keyshawn after the Panthers cut him.

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
