Defensive Hypothetical

All of my brilliant ideas come while sitting on the commode. So do all of my worst ones, so this thread is gonna be hit-or-miss. bear with me. :D

If we traded Peppers to Oakland for Asomugah and a first or second-round pick, and got Herm Edwards as defensive coordinator, got rid of lucas and started gamble and asomugah, used the traded pick for a scary pass-rusher to take over pep's spot and shored up the DT position with huge guys via the free agency...

we'd have the best defense in the league.

Can you imagine Herm with that kind of talent in his DB's? Can you imagine having a nasty passrush with the front four, forcing throws to guys being covered by them? Our linebacking corps with a healthy connor, beason, davis, and diggs? seward, even?

the mere thought of it is so awesome i have to go to the bathroom again. dammit. discuss.

Carlos Rodgers is a good CB.

Not an even trade with Pep tho if thats where you are going.

Not where I was going.

Pep and our second rounder for Rogers, their first and a third? Maybe their first, Rogers and Jason Taylor? These are hypotheticals I might consider but still not sure I'd take (nor would I realistically think them possible).

If you're thinking defense when you're sitting on the toilet then you're in the wrong stall.

I don't see the FO going for taylor... isn't he getting up there in years? plus he strikes me as prone to outside distractions. not a hurney/fox type player IMO.

He would be wasted in our system because we don't use man to man all that much, which is where Asohardname shines.

True, but with him we COULD if we wanted to, freeing up safties for some much-needed blitzes, in case our front four can't get it done. and if we pick up Herm as DC, the schemes will change a little bit at least, enough to work it in.

As a long term replacement, no.

As a one year patch allowing the team to wait till next year to get a long term replacement? Maybe.

Most Skins fans would disagree with you. I'm neither here nor there, but living in Redskin country...most cant stand him.

I want Aso from Oakland in our backfield. One way or another.

    • Cooter, Kurb, others have passed on to glory….  Praise be.
    • Oh good for them! Hope this is the start of a long happy time in their lives here.
    • There was no reason to believe in either Cam or Jake as a top tier elite QB before those seasons either. Cam was an "athletic" QB in most people's minds and his passing skills were open for debate. And there was a bit to that as he was still trying to get that massive power in his arm tamed to be able to put some touch on his passes. And then, he did it. Missiles became bombs, the firing lanes became points of finesse. Cam grew up and leveled up, while still retaining the ability and drive to truck people whenever he wanted. And Jake... no one freaking believed in Jake except Jake himself. He got, and let's be honest with this, one chance in a losing game to make something out of his career. And he rose to the occasion like some kind of mythical hero and continued to do so for the season. He became a true leader for the team, and his gunslinger capabilities rehabbed Moose's career and created Smitty as a force in the league. Smitty went from a barker to a biter. But no one believed in Jake going in. And they trashed him on his way out. Now Bryce... who knows? I've seen some improvement. Maybe he finds his footing. His teammates seem to love and respect him and that means a lot. The game should be moving at his speed now. He has weapons available to him and maybe a defense that doesn't just roll over by the third quarter. And his coach seems to be moving this team in the right direction. Could he do it? It's up to him, if he can find the magic like Jake and Cam did. But don't doubt this, magic is really, really hard to find.
