The off-season move that probably doomed us was not re-signing Moose.

If I thought Moose were still the Moose of prior years, or even the Moose of last year, I'd agree.

Sadly, I think he's done, and knows it.

But it's good for him though. I think he has a bright career as a broadcaster ahead.

hoover was done as well...only problem is he and a bunch of fans still hanging on the the dream haven't realized it.

I agree that not re-signing Moose was the biggest hit we took in the off-season, not because of his receiving ability, but his blocking ability. He is the best WR blocker that iv ever seen, if not he was a top 2-3 without a doubt. Without him out there blocking DB's, our running backs aren't going to get running lanes past 10 yards.

I wouldn't exactly say we're doomed because it's all a matter of perspective. If you are talking about 2010, this was a rebuilding year in the first place. Jerry made sure of that. So, of course, whenever you are in rebuilding mode, you have to lower your expectations.

Yeah, we began fooling ourselves during pre-season (especially in light of the way our defense was playing), but there were many red flags on the offensive side of the ball. Even still, I am still opimistic about our progress, although we may be making it in baby steps.

So, yeah, this season is going to be rough, but in the long run we'll be OK as long as we make it a priority to draft a playmaker at the WR position. as well as tweak both lines (via draft or FA).

On an off note, IMO, I don't believe that letting certain vets go was our biggest failing, I believe that letting Pep go for nothing was our biggest mistake. We should have gotten some value for him (especially the way that Gross has been playing), but this is Monday morning QBing.

Point blank we're young and majority of our guys need experience which they are gaining now. The potential we see in these players hasn't turned into production just yet. Some injuries don't help the cause resulting in our record. It was looking like we are a number 2 potential 1 (when Smitty's time is up I expect this will be addressed with an high pick in 2011) away from getting into the 'off's but that's just not true until we can turn that potential into production on game days.

    • I believe Lloyd will elevate not just the whole unit, but also whoever his running mate is. Wallace is still very young, I think he's only 23 with two years of exp now. Cherelus can handle starting, he's just fighting with staying healthy. Kuwatch I think is going to be a contender after a couple week of understanding the system.  I mean Lee will be against..... what nearly 10 NFL-level WRs, he's going to get work and its up to him if he can hang.  I think its fair to expect 12th +/- 3 or 4 spots.  You know this, it boils down to how healthy everyone stays.....cause if dbrown, horn, Lloyd, Michael Jackson, or tervon miss extended time.....no way 10th can be reached. IF all the names above remain haethly, I do think 10th should be the goal. They are a young unit and added talent to a 16th ranked unit. Its time to march forward!!
    • Varying degrees all around but it starts at the top. That is where the buck stops. It has been 8 years of stupid, long before Morgan came back. Or Tillis was hired. Made it to the top of stupid mountain in 2023. Stayed in stupid limbo for a while, now we are prepping to scale the next mountain. In this case, I like those guys’ roster building better than what we have had so I am okay with them as our current pawns in the game of Bryce.
    • Don't let me gas him up too much, but I hear this and that...... I seen a wide body man with a quick burst, that's able to shed blocks and if extends his long arms its over. He tore up the OL in the senior, you seen about 10 plays and the dog walking OLman. There's other plays of him doing the same, just have to deal with fetus talking over the plays. Plus there's this-  https://x.com/PFF_College/status/2018385471068332410?lang=en     I hope he's ready, cause Id like to see him starting and doing his thang with dbrown, nic, and Phillips.
