2009 Run Game

Deangelo

We didn't really find our run game until week 8 vs. the Cardinals. If we can start of next year the way we played from that game, on, Deangelo will be on pace for 1957 yards in 2009. We all know what he is capable of.

Stewart

Stewart was inconsistent which isn't necessarily what you want from your #2 back, but it did help us out in situations when we were down, and Stewart came in and ran the ball really well(Chicago, Atlanta) and had the occasional big run(Green Bay, Tampa, Detroit). He can only get better next year.

If our running game starts rolling right out of the gate next year, we'll see some big numbers and an improved offense as long as we keep Gross. Moose yields to show signs of aging so if Jake avoids turning the ball over 6 times in any game, we should see a consistent offense.

Yeah I have no concerns with the offense, the defense is the bigger concern right now

With that said, I PRAY they STILL find a way to get better on offense. You dont want to not address any positions and then wonder "what happened"... I say keep going after ANY big ass OL and maybe start looking for a replacement for Hoover. (and a new #3 RB)

I think Jarrett will come into his own + we have carter and then robinson.

We just need to continue to build a strong LINE.

--- As far as Williams - he will have a shot at 2,000 yards as long as he continues to get 15/20 carries a game.

Im excited :D

I think the offense will improve through better playcalling. Davidson improved a lot over last year in how he prepared but he still needs to get better at in-game adjustments. Granted, he had stability at QB this year but the line was all over the place and he adjusted in his preparations just fine.

If Davidson brings back the screen and other short passes, if Gross is resigned and our line stays healthy, and if we stick with the run even when we're down then I think that's as big as improvement as any player will bring.

If he wants a shot at 2,000, he needs to see a bump to maybe 20 - 25 carries per game. While that may cut from Stewarts carries around 5 carries per game, if he runs for a 5 yd avg. he will have around 800 - 900 yds still.

Herman Johnson will be gone in the early second round. Besides, if we ****** him up before drafting a defensive lineman the boards will implode. :)

If we can get 1st round pick for Peppers we can address DT in the 1st. A few cuts in the off season and we'll have plenty of money to sign a few people. If Johnson fell to us we have to take him. 8 in the box it wouldn't matter you'd still get annihilated.

The offense will improve and be more consistent if our coaches actually find a short and mid-range passing game. A vertical game with 35-40 yard throws down the field does not provide enough consistency.

Just watch the Ravens...they do the same thing. Their defense is good enough to keep them in ALOT of games.

Oh hell, if he fell to the bottom of the 2nd we could take him as BPA. Not gonna happen though.

And yes, he's a right guard for LSU, big road grader. Weighs close to 400 pounds, and is the biggest player in LSU history.

    • And those targets are mostly going to TMac, who will be a part of the FUTURE of the team. Did it remove the most reliable WR and Bryce's safety blanket? Absolutely. But it's also allowing him to build better chemistry with TMac, Stephens, Horn, Evans, etc. I am pumped to see Coker back and hopefully they can reignite that connection.
    • It's the same thing that made Bryce the #1 overall pick. I've never seen such mass delusion about a football player before. Everyone convinced themselves that the fact that Bryce was below to severely below average in practically every physical attribute for an NFL QB just wouldn't matter because he has everything else you need and that'll more than make up for it. When has such an argument ever been made for an NFL prospect before? We watch prospects plummet every year because they run a couple tenths slower in the 40 time than expected. Smitty had everything you want in a receiver except he was 5'9" so he goes in the 3rd round. That's the way these things generally go. If you check a lot of boxes but leave some key ones unchecked you're not an elite prospect. With Bryce though, the physically limitations were always obvious so it gave more time to be able to build that into the equation and come up with reasons for why he'd be able to overcome it. Now we have all these same shortcomings having shone brightly on the NFL field and we STILL have people trying to convince themselves he'll be able to overcome it while ignoring that our past two wins and his improved play have come while riding the back of RB putting up GOAT RB production over the past two weeks. What changed wasn't Bryce. What changed is that Rico is playing out of his damn mind. Pretty much every NFL roster caliber QB can shine if he can get 200+ yards out of the RB behind him.
